Hi all I have a LG 65ef9500 OLED 4k HDR10 capable HDMI 2.0a tv. I wish to have a way to output an optical signal from a Amazon 4k firetv (HDCP 2.2 4k HDR10/Dolby) to a Emotiva DC-1 DAC. Other than using the optical out from the TV, what kind of options do I have? I've been looking at this. www.amazon.com/Koopman-Switcher-Extractor-Splitter-18-5Gbps/dp/B07RZ5MC1D/Which looks like it will do the job for $45 bucks. [/img] However I don't need the additional inputs and wouldn't mind saving some money by going to one with just one HDMI input. Does this sound good? Or is there a better more compact cost effective thing? Most of the units I've found lack HDCP2.2 and HDR capabilities. The important thing is that it needs to have 4k HDR & HDCP2.2 and optical and BE AS LAG FREE AS POSSIBLE so I don't see obvious lip sync problems when watching movies.

I went ahead and ordered it. Hopefully it will work Let us know your findings; I’m interested in this approach AudioHTITSo good news! I just tried it. www.amazon.com/Koopman-Switcher-Extractor-Splitter-18-5Gbps/dp/B07RZ5MC1D/This device is confirmed to work with the fire TV 4k and pass through optical output to my DC-1 with no noticeable lag. It passes HDR, does 4k and also extracts the spdif streamm and passes it through optical. This is important because it does not mess up HDCP 2.2 to extract the optical stream. Only suggestion - you have to set the audio to "stereo" for PCM and not "best available" in the firetv settings. Because best available is Dolby which most DACs will not process. It has coax but I have not tested it. If there is a lip sync lag, I do not notice it. Currently my DC-1 says it's receiving a 48khz signal. I have no idea if the signal is resampled or not but I notice no degradations. So - this device works! It's kept my DC-1 obsolete free and the nerve center of my home theater for the new 4k streaming generation! I can't be happier. Thank you everybody for the help including SteveH who first showed me this way. KeithL This may be a useful solution for other customers that want to use their dacs with HDMI only 4k devices! www.amazon.com/Koopman-Switcher-Extractor-Splitter-18-5Gbps/dp/B07RZ5MC1D/
