So, as it stands now there's been, or so it seems, a large cover up and sweeping under the rug of one of the most devastating losses in music and entertainment. Hopefully those seeing this will already know the background so I won't go into detail. But here's a link if you want to be more informed. www.nytimes.com/2019/06/25/magazine/universal-music-fire-bands-list-umg.html [Disable page Javascript to bypass the sign up BS^^} A serious question I can't find any information on, and I'm grasping for straws at this point or so it feels. But it would extend to just about anyone who enjoys music from the 1930's to present, especially in the form of Vinyl. I bought a MOFI copy of the James Gang Rides Again, an album I absolutely love. Adore even lol It sounds very very nice. I have the SACD also which is a whole other experience, but prefer the wax. According to the list on the NY Times web page, the James Gang is one of the (hundreds) of artists whose masters were destroyed. MOFI states all their releases are half speed lathe cuts from the "Original Master Tapes" used on their modified Studer R2R. The fire was in 2008, and the release of this James Gang Rides Again is 2017 This is only one example I can think of now but Rick Beato on YT also has a rant about this. What are they 'Re-Mastering' from? I'm not going to be pedantic about Japanese master copies b/c sometimes those are in better shape than the actual original. But I am genuinely interested & concerned about whats going on behind the scenes amidst this unbelievably large scale loss of history and talent. What a disaster.

The article is from June 25, 2019 and I just learned about this a few weeks ago.. but okay. Fanfare isn't what this post is for. Don't you want to know if there were copies made? Or what the master library is they're pulling from now for the newer releases? Maybe they were back cataloged? Things That we would be paying for. There's enough puffery and inflation advertising when it comes to audio & I'm trying to cut through it all to the facts. Plus, once again, original masters of legends like Aretha Franklin, Buddy Holly, Buddy Guy, Judy Garland, Elton John, John Fogerty, Aerosmith, Iron Butterfly, The James Gang, New Riders Of The Purple Sage, Mos Def, Nirvana, Eric Clapton ... to name a few over different eras/genres are destroyed. Gone forever. The things we use to actually make quality releases for people who care. So if this is old news to you, then you obviously don't really care about the music or the history. Just the next big thing. The loss of the history that shaped our popular culture and progress of society should never be considered 'old news'. It makes sense your name is perpendicular, because you're awful square
