My processor has served me well for a while now but recently it has started introducing "digital" noises into the audio. Everything passes through the unit to get to my TV. I do not have the speakers on the TV on. The digital noise sounds like processing issues. Like the surrond processor does not know what to do with it. I have tried multiple surround modes with Dolby Digital being the worst when it is happening. It is not all the time. And it is from multiple sources. Apply TV and Xbox. I have tried unpluging the processor for a while to reset it. I have swapped hdmi cables. No change.
Any ideas? Can I even get this unit repaired anymore?
Thanks Mark

Thanks Mark If you're comfortable removing the cover, you could try cleaning up all the internal ribbon connectors inside making sure nothing is loose. Be careful not to throw a static charge into the chassis....that could be a death sentence. Bill

experiencing the same popping noises. at first it seemed as though it only happened when multiple hdmi inputs were being used. I removed all but one and it seemed to go away, then, of course it came back. So my next "workaround" was to plug chromecast into tv and use the digital opt. out from tv to pt7030, seemed ok for a bit,of course, popping noises came back again. Seemes like it was just hdmi's but coming through on the optical digital input has me baffled. Getting close to just giving up on this unit.

This is a timely issue that I (we) am (are) eagerly awaiting the answer to. I emailed Emotiva Customer Service a couple of months ago regarding my PT-7020C4, which sadly no longer completes the boot process. Here's the reply I got: Unfortunately Sherbourn is no loner in business and Emotiva no longer provides service. All Sherbourn service is now done at Audio Service Labs, you can reach them at 781-4798485
However, I have not yet gotten around to sending them my receiver. Hope this helps! Chris

I just retired the same Sherbourne (7030) I'm not really into the HT thing anymore. Bought new from EMO a few years ago. It was very lightly used and is Like new in the original box with original BT Dongle I would be happy to sell it for $300 you pay for shipping. I would love to see it go to a good home...You can PM me or reply here.

Hi, I just repaired my 7030 digital crackling issue. I sprayed all connectors with contact cleaner and plugged the 7030 straight into the AC outlet, don’t plug into a power center. It seems that the 7030 likes raw ac power. The digital crackling happened on HDMI, optical, coax, stereo and any of the digital sound field except bypass.

Glad to hear that that is all it took to fix it. Doing that about every three years to the equipment we're using will insure a good sound, and prevent potential problems.

Correction: the problem is more heat related than anything else. I removed the 2 ac infinity fans and the crackling noise returned. I then put the fans back on the 7030 and the noise disappeared. I have 1 120mm blowing in and 1 exhaust. Hope this helps someone
