Thanks... we're aware of this and we're working on it. In the mean time, change the input, then change back again, and it will stop.
Came home for lunch, turned on the TV and due to CEC enabled the XMC-2 switched on, turned off the XMC-2 so it was Video On Standby. I rolled back the show on TiVo which had a half hour of "Live" buffer duration, and skipped back to the beginning to check something, then skipped forward about 5 minutes and began watching. Paused the show and after the "beginning" of the buffer had caught up with itself, it unpaused - at which time the digital-static-stutter occurred in the TV's speakers. All of my amps were off so there is no chance there was any sound emanating from the various external speakers. Yikes! I hope you're going to call Emotiva to report that. I haven't seen anyone previously report the issue happening in pass through.

WOW! on the menu speed! Very good job to get almost ALL of the old zip back.
The only improvement left for the menu is to try to add a delay for the Sub Menus where you choose the fine settings. It's like this, I hit Menu, then I can zip up and down to choose an item, I choose Setup, then I can zip up and down to choose Speakers, then choose Preset 1, then zip up and down to choose Size, then zip up/down and choose Center, ---- This is where the system tells me to "Please Wait". I'm wondering if a delay can be added here to allow a choice to be made while navigating up/down the list before a Please Wait is employed? Or maybe not a delay, but something to allow navigation before being forced to Please Wait.
This is all moot if the idea is to "hear" a difference while selecting different options. ?

So I just updated my Xmc2 with the new firmware. It installed fine it seems however I was treated with a massive issue. When the XMC booted up it I tried to play a song and to my surprise it blasted a static sounding song such as listening to the radio just out of range where you can still hear the music but not clear at max volume. I freaked out and turned it down. Holy crap it scared the heck out of me. I’m unplugging all devices and running the upgrade again. Wow what a rush.
Second try at the update changing nothing at all (didn’t unplug the cables bc I wanted to see if it was repeatable before trying something else) all is fine now. Many that was scary.
2 1299s a 1099 center my rears atmos and two devestators playing at max volume will make you poo your pants lol.

Heck no volume on the receiver was around -35 or so. At -80 it was still audible. At -35 though it was BLASTING. This was not done intentionally

Glad I had far less drama with my update, but still a bit. Wouldn't recognize the USB stick, so I held the button to do a reboot. Reboot came up with an error! Twice! Turned power off ... pulled the plug ... waited a minute ... powered back up, and it booted. Update installed okay!
Also before all this I tried several times to load filters from REW and it said it was loading but the filters never loaded. Thought I had a bad USB stick. But after the update (and having rebooted) I tried loading the filters again and they loaded fine.
So a question ... have issues with the PEQ sub filters and Filter 1 (shelf) been resolved?

My update stopped at HDMI update part. Emailed Emotiva support This happened to me on a previous version of the firmware. I shut it down with the rear switch and started the load again. It loaded fine. I thought I might brick it, but that didn’t happen.

I am sort of taken aback to hear about all these update hiccups, because I was under the impression that this would be the update of all the updates, the "one to rule them all," and the silver bullet for all or most of the known bugs and issues of this processor. Still, i am hoping to hear more success stories, just in case those are being under reported. I particularly want to know about the bugs this update has fixed, so kindly keep the reports coming.

I'm also surprised. If anyone came to my house, they would order the XMC2 the next day. I've been using this XMC2 everyday - firmware updates load just fine - etc etc. Obviously, there needs to be some enhanced trouble shooting to figure out why there are so many different issues.

I think the XMC-2 went into surround mode, it hit one left front then the left rear shut down the XMC-2 everything is back, except the HTPC, I started playing around with the sitting on Jriver and probably screwed it up again it was working fine with 1.7 the other night, nothing had changed except the upgrade to 1.8 *sigh* I was was warned about this.. stay away from Emotiva, you will just be their guinea pig they said, I should start charging for my time

at least it's interesting..
I mean, perfect out of the box is sooooo 1990's
The last time I had a product with this many bugs was when I installed a Marconi SDH network about 20 years ago, but once we got it bug free it worked 24/7, we still have a few nodes working, probably haven't been power cycled for 20 years either.. (twin CP cards, upgrades done by updating one CP then switching)
You could have bought it bug free, the same nodes where rebadged as Siemens at twice the price running their working software. Oh those wacky Germans.
Sorry, off topic and rambling

Love you guys crazy language over yonder! What does "Ditch the Fetch" mean in English 🤣 "Ditch the Fetch" "Ditch" = dispose of "Fetch" = brand of TV Box/PVR www.jbhifi.com.au/products/fetch-mighty-fetch-tvso..... dispose of the TV box I will just wait until 1.8 and see if that fixes things (TAPS FOOT LOUDLY) I read a fair bit after I posted and it seem to be a comment issue with TV boxes Not going to ditch the fetch because just bought it recently and it worked flawlessly with my Yamaha AVR for 4 weeks the quick fix for me now is to press the 'speaker presets' to change to preset 2, sound comes back, then I just change back to preset 1 no a real major deal now that I can control it, as long as I dont press Standby, then it means getting off the couch and a *LONG WAIT* Just a quick note re the Fetch boxes. They are known to have issues with certain processors, av receivers, and/or TV's. Various sound and video gremlins. Can be sound drop outs and glitches, or video sync ones. Seem to work great with some brands/not with others. One of my Fetch Mighty even gave grief connected directly to my Panasonic oled, when my other Fetch Mighty worked without issue on a Sony Lcd tv. The fix was to use a cheap powered hdmi splitter between the fetch and TV. When I added my XMC-1 I used this splitter between the fetch and it, and worked great. Google 'fetch hdmi splitter' and will turn up various article like this: www.stereo.net.au/forums/topic/258902-fetch-mighty-aaaargh/

Yeah..
The main issue with the Fetch is with no handshaking at all, meaning no connection
I had that issue with the rear ports of the Yamaha, the front had no issues at all.
I have got a Chinese knockoff of the DR HDMI I should try and should get my hands on a splitter
Seeing its a simple press of the speaker preset to fix, it's not a major issue as it was when I thought powering it off and locking up was the solution

Anybody explain why I can’t get any audio to the xmc-2 using any of the built-in apps within the tv ? Ie : netflix, vudu, youtube, etc.
I have the hdmi ARC from my lg oled into the xmc-2 ARC. Had audio playing before when I had my denon receiver. Same configuration.
Just installed 1.8
Any help would be appreciated.

It still causes my monitors to go black and back on whenever I change inputs.
