Lonnie has delivered on his “it’ll be out by summer”. Hopefully I’ll get it next week. I contemplated on maybe getting the RMC1L but decided against it. The I want it now was weighing heavily on me 😬. ——— The new XMC2 was released and it looks to be a promising pre/pro. I had to order it as soon as possible since I was living without my XMC1 for over a year (probably not the best move). Anyway, Emotiva was able to ship a unit out same day and it’s supposed to arrive on Tuesday. I just want to give a big shout out to Lonnie for all the hard work he and his team did to make good on their release timeframe. The specs of the XMC2 should make it very competitive. You can find all the details on the product page. emotiva.com/products/xmc-2The big thing for me is that while I may not use all the channels, it’s a 9.1.6 processor with fully balanced channels across the front 3 where I have my best speakers and the subwoofer channel. Also, 2 channel music is very important to me so having that left and right channel being full balanced will hopefully translate into superior sound quality. I do plan on implementing Atmos since I do have 4 in-ceiling speakers but not sure when that’ll happen as I need an amp for 2 more channels. Thank you again Lonnie for your candid advice after listening to my audio needs and recommending the XMC2. I think this was the best choice especially given my budget constraints so I was very pleased that you felt the XMC2 would be the best processor for me. Needless to say, I hope you guys sell a ton of them. It has been a long year+ without a proper pre/pro so waiting longer made no sense. But thankfully my buddy Dan let me use his Theta Casanova to help fill the void especially for music listening. It’s still a really good preamp even though it doesn’t do lossless. Talk soon my fellow Emotiva fans and potential future XMC2 owners. I’m pretty excited! |

Same as the RMC-1. Dirac for both units should launch together. With that said, both units sound incredible out of the box with just the levels and distances set. Plus you get the full manual PEQ to go in and adjust. |

Wow that was quick, you know all us lounge members are gonna be waiting for a full blown user review with all the big audio slang Chad I am just praying that it just works. I have a Sony 4K Blu-ray player, Apple TV 4K and that’s it. I use Netflix from my LG OLED. So hopefully with a simple setup, everything will work nicely and I can get on with the review. I’m shocked that they shipped it so fast and today is Friday so I hope I don’t have the “Friday XMC2” lol. |

So for the folks that purchased the full version of Dirac on the XMC-1 and trade up to the XMC-2, will we still have that license when it’s released or will we have to buy a new license?

I’d like to add to this question. If indeed Dirac for XMC-1 works for the XMC-2 then shouldn’t it also work for the RMC-1? 🤔 |

Emotiva has said that with the XMC2, RMC1 & Rmc1L Dirac full is included. It’s not an additional $99. So I don’t think we have to worry about the Dirac license. Let me know if I have it wrong. |

Since DIRAC isn’t ready yet for Lsc’s XMC-2 or my RMC-1, in the interim looks like I’ll be taking a re-fresher course on HomeTheaterShack’s REW software. |

Good news! Looking forward to the early reviews. Mark the XMC-2/RMC-1/RMC1L all share the same firmware, I’m expecting any growing pains to be very minimal now that firmware versions v1.4 and now v1.5 have ironed out most bugs. So DIRAC should be the last feature these processor platforms are waiting on. |

This thread is for owners and those interested in the XMC-2 to ask questions and discuss the features, operation, problems, and enhancements to this processor. Since we have an Official XMC-2 Trade in thread <HERE>, let’s continue trade-in talk there. We also have a place to discuss the differences between the models <HERE>, there’s a link to a features sheet and a poll too, so it’s a good place to help you choose which model you want. Of course there’s the RMC-1 owners thread <HERE>, which will be a huge resource for XMC-2 owners (albeit close to 200 pages), and I expect RMC owners will be answering questions here too. Obviously like all threads this one will wander a bit, but the more we stay on topic the more helpful it becomes. |
