Figuring out where to put this thread became easy, when I read the options, because to make it all “work together “ there can be no rattles at all, or it will drive you crazy! Anyone else have one of these stories??
When I first got into serious subwoofing, I needed to go around the room (and a little beyond) and kill any little rattles that popped up as a consequence of delving into 15Hz. territory. I’ve got little pieces of clear plastic supporting the smoked glass in my coffee tabletop. The same deal for the fake glass pane dividers on my great room windows. All is well until recently, I had a “splinter in my ear” from SOMETHING....but what?? I got a new HT couch 🛋, and I thought, perhaps the metal frame was the culprit, because that’s where the noise seemed to be coming from. Finally, I zeroed I’m on my left surround speaker. I disassembled it and found the heat glued crossover network had come away from the inside of the cabinet and was flapping in the breeze. I re-glued it and put in one of my spare woofers, (as a matter of course) and all is well.

My new subs have aggravated some rattles and I need to do this version of the ‘sub crawl’. I was thinking of running the tone generator out of AudioTools through the low range until I hit a rattle, then track it down and move on to the next.

That’s an elegant solution....better than scrambling around before the low frequency passage from source material plays past. Bill

Yeah but the rattles give it a more "Realistic Approach" haha

My other little guy would leap off the couch for anything and everything! 🐶

You haven't had enough yet, and want an encore eardrum rattle? What the...! Okay, show over A sad reminder of how lost some of today’s generation are without real music. Yours is a perfect example of how they end up. I love driving with the top open and the windows down, but only on quiet back roads. In the urban environment, I cherish my AC and everything closed up. However, with the jungle boom boom subwoofing, even that doesn’t help. Bill
