Well my honest opinion is that Emotiva should just stick to building their super amps and refine their processors and forget about the passive loudspeakers completely. Emotiva makes AMAZING speakers though. It’s just far too long since they have released anything in an upper tier. Now, their airmotiv speakers are insanely good. But I wish they’d bring back a heavy hitter in this realm as well Right! That would be a game changer... We can only hope!

I've only listened to each at Emotiva, but I also think the T2's are better than 8.3's. And, if I were in the market for speakers, the T2's would be high on my list. I've only heard Pendragons once, but I'd take the T2's over them also. Mark

Sapinto05 I know the Monitor Audio dilemma. I WANTED Gold 300, but not @ $5K, would take the Silver 8 or maybe Silver 10. I don't know if upgrading to 8" woofers would be overkill for me. Then the other side of me says buy/build some 12" 3 ways, the heck with a sub. I've owned beautiful, want SOUND & don't care about ugly. Heck, if you find the Emos ugly, veneer them Waiting to read post from T1+, T2+ buyers I'm this // close to ordering a pair of T?+. If I don't like em, I'll build.

I owned ERT's for about 5 years. The tweeters and mid range was as good as it gets, bass, not so much, even with those sealed twin 8" woofers. Placement is important for the ERTs. What I found is that where they sound their best is not where I could keep them. 3-4' from the back wall was a little too much. I've heard the T1's, meh, not so impressed. They would never replace either of my tower speakers. Since I've not heard the T2 I can't comment on those. IMO the T1's had too much emphasis on the bass, and lacked the mid range punch that we all like so much. My opinion only, so YMMV. The AMT tweeter is good, but so are a lot of other tweeters, domes, ribbons, etc. I've owned Salk Song Towers for the past 5 years and really love them. They cover enough of the low range that a sub isn't a necessity, unless you're a bass-head. In that case, get a sub. The OW2 tweeter in the ST's is as smooth as I've heard in any speaker. I've been listening to a pair of Polk (yeah, I know what they say about 'them'!) LSiM705's for a year, off and on. Rotating them in and out with the Salks. I've decided to keep the Polks in the MLP, and I will probably keep the Salk ST's, rotating them in/out on a regular basis, or set them up in the bedroom if I have the energy. It's still golfing season here! I've heard the cheaper Polk Monitor series, and I wasn't impressed, and never thought I'd own Polk speakers, but hey! Here they are, and they are very good. Mine are veneer, Mt Vernon Cherry, and they are as well made as the ST's, and that was a huge surprise to me. Not a seem to be seen, and not a mark on them when I pulled them out of the packing boxes. I got a screaming deal just over a year ago, $1699 shipped for the Yamaha AVR & the Polk speakers. I big idea was to keep the Polks boxed up, with the idea of selling them. DUH! Once I opened the boxes, put them in the MLP and turned them on I said "oh oh!" Crap! These are keepers, especially for what I paid for them. So I'm not opposed to having two sets of mains around, keeps things interesting. The ring radiator tweeter ain't bad at all, a tad bright on some music, but I can tolerate it, especially when I get music without a sub down to 32hz or so. Did I mention that they are really good? At any rate the Polks (705's and 707's) come on sale from time to time for around $450 each for the 705's, and $550 for the TOTL 707's from time to time. Best of all shipping is usually free. These are big 4 way speakers. The 705's weigh 86 pounds each and are very solid, the 707's are right at 100 pounds. If you aren't in a hurry watch the News/Great Found Deals thread on AVS for those prices. They come on and off sale with regularity, and are sold by Adorama in NYC. Good people to deal with IMO.

If I had the room I’d have a pair of Tekton towers no questions asked. I also owned the LCR version of the 8.3s I believe the airmotiv/stealth line sounds better than the old Emotiva reference, but neither hold a stick to what Tekton puts out. That’s my opinion of course. I’ve been a long standing fan of the Airmotiv tweeter

I think owning Maggies spoiled me for most other tweeters, but the T2's are - for me - the closest to the Maggie high end that comes in a box that I have heard. Mark

Mark That’s a pretty glowing comparison. Personally I have never heard the T2 but if they share similarities with the Airmotiv and stealth they are fine speakers guaranteed. I just know Emotiva has it in them to take their speakers to the next level. I’d really like to see that The pendragons I had were some of the nicest speakers I’ve heard at any price point. I can only imagine what some of the new offerings deliver. Maggie’s are a pleasure to listen to as well.

That’s a pretty glowing comparison. It sure is, and I don't take comparisons lightly. That's how much the T2's impressed me. I find so many speakers' high ends to come across mechanical, harsh, and unrealistic vs. live sounds. And, that just blows it for me. The Maggies recreate the right upper end, and so do the T2's. Regarding the mids and bass, the T2's do not lack there at all. Solid/tight punch low with smooth/clear mids. Emotiva hit this one out of the park. Had they been around when I bought my Maggies, I would have saved $1K and had T2's. Mark
