This is my second thread on this forum in 10 years so I hope this information doesn't piss some people off... but it just needs to be said. I visit quite frequently just to read about new products before I buy .
Ok, like everyne else on the forum, I love Emotiva; infact I worship anything Emotiva. I currently have the XPA 9 (gen 3) which I plan to send in to Emotiva to add two more modules soon. I also have the X series power cable for the amp, Emotiva XLR snakes, Emotiva CMX-2, and my first pride and joy... The ERT 8.3, Erm 6.3, and surrounds.
I have be rocking these speakers for almost a decade, and I get constant "oh my gosh, those are the emotivas? Can I listen to them?" when people visit me. These speakers speak for themselves for those who care about audio and even speaks louder for those I invite for movie nights (I like when they get so sucked into the movie/music that they wonder how to get these same speakers).
I always tell them that "I wish there was replacement from Emotiva but I just can't sell it right now". It has been almost ten years, and I am starting to worry that I would have to switch to another brand for speakers (speakers only) when I create my new 11.2 dolby atmos set-up next year.
I started looking at options a fews ago but secretly hoped that emotiva will release high end speakers to rival the ERTs in both physical design and quality. I was pleasantly supprise at their current line which I recomended to some of my friends. As for myself, I just don't think they rival my ERTs because it looks like Emotiva went almost 70% design wise and 120% on the sound quality with the ribbon tweeters. However, the speakers looked like they were design to save as much money as possible which is good at times but defeats the purpose at least for me.
Then I started wishing again when they announced their new line (Airmovtiv +) and I was still very disappointed because the quality just insn't good enough to replace the ERTs. I showed my wife the pictures of the speakers and she said "please don't switch to those, lets just keep the ERTs you currently have or get something from Monitor audio" for the new house. This is literally coming from someone who doesn't like dark colors, so wow!
So enough with the blabing, I have been for the past 3yrs that Emotiva would release a high end speakers with the same quality as the ERTs. Speakers with outrigers and connections that would impress anyone. I'm I the only person in this boat? I mean I wish there was a new reference series over the airmotiv line that could go for even $1,699 to $2,000 per pair. I believe it's not my place to tell Emotiva what to do, but this is just a wish... I may have to keep my current gear until I switch just the speakers in the near future. The wife seemed to be leaning toward the monitor audio silver 500s because of the walnut color but kind of skeptical of having the same sound she is used to hearing
