Im having a few problems with my RMC 1...i wonder if anyone else is having these same problems because I’m getting nowhere with emotiva or at least no where with the one rep...he rather give me a refund rather than give me a new unit which is not what i want...i want the RMC 1 to just work the way it should work. If the refund is the only way to get a new unit I’ll take the refund and buy a new RMC 1. . The main issue is sometimes when switching inputs regardless of the input (HDMI, Fiber optic or Coaxial Digital) and getting “please wait” on the tv screen like it always does when switching inputs, but sometimes for minutes at a time? When the “please wait” is displayed there’s no sound....almost like the unit is frozen. Sometimes it goes back to the input u were switching out of and other times i have to turn off from the main power switch in the back because the the buttons on the RMC 1 r frozen too. The second issue and this issue only happened a few times, when controlling the volume the volume comes up on the tv screen and that gets frozen on the screee and obviously the sound goes off and u can’t do anything until the unit gets out of that glitch and then back to normal. And the 3rd issue was after the latest firmware update the sound started to sound very harsh. Almost like a blown out speaker sound....and it sounded different on each input....that was fixed after hours of troubleshooting with and without the Rep when the rep sent me a low frequency firmware update of some sort (which he put on the email that he wasn’t to confident it would fix my low frequency issue) thank god he spoke to his co worker because it fixed the low frequency issue. Now after multiple calls and emails with that rep it’s still the same issue with the “please wait” freezing. The rep seems to think it’s not the RMC 1....i changed every cable, it happens with my cable box input, bluray, Sonos, bluesound... i even plugged the power conditioner into an outlet on a different circuit, i plugged the RMC 1 into a different circuit to bypass the power conditioner and still the same problem. But He still thinks there’s nothing wrong with this RMC 1. Please tell me someone is having or had a similar issue and how it was repaired. When the RMC 1 works it’s an amazing piece of equipment, again this is what i want i just want it to work the way it’s supposed to.

Are you running the latest Firmware?

Thanks for the response, so i checked and noticed i was working off the 1.4 firmware. Installed the 1.5 firmware and unplugged all of the hdmi cables and unplugged power cord on every device including the RMC 1 so all devices can reboot as recommended by u and emotiva they wrote it in the notes on the firmware. I waited at least a minute when they recommended 10 seconds before i plugged anything back in.
The following is what happened since:
“Please wait” shows on tv screen when switching inputs and freezing for minutes sometimes longer
LFE hum on 2 different types of subs (A pair of the New REL Serie S/812’s that i just received 2 weeks ago and my previous pair of Subs JL Fathom 12’s) at low volume u hear it and that’s not supposed to happen. When u turn the volume up on the processor it doesn’t raise the level of the hum I’m assuming it drowns it out from the sound playing louder. Even when i mute the processor u hear the hum.
When listening to tidal thru my bluesound vault 2 (when it switches inputs fine) it plays the tidal music no problem when i switch to hi res album on a usb Thumb Drive plugged in my bluesound the processor lights up on the screen that it receives the hi res file cause it will jump to 96/24 or 192/24 but it won’t play it sometimes....if it was the flash drive or the bluesound it wouldn’t show the change in the signal from 44.1/24 to 96/24 right???....and this happens on 2 different bluesound devices (Vault 2 and Node 2) hooked up with either a fiber optic or coaxial.
I then hooked the bluesound device up with rca cables and it plays those hi res files from thumb drive but only 44.1/24 from a hi res song that is 96/24
On the bluesound Vault 2 i can also save hi res and upload cd’s to the bluesound vaults hard drive, I can play the uploaded cd files with no no problem....but the hi res files sometimes won’t play....again from 2 different bluesound sources
Was able to get a hi res album from the thumb drive plugged into the bluesound player, it played the 1st song fine then the 2nd song comes and it doesn’t play anymore. Tried to switch back to cable input and it freezes....”please wait” 🤦🏼♂️ The “please wait” finally went away and switched over to the Cable box input, but no sound. It allowed me to adjust the volume but no sound.
Can it possibly be multiple hdmi cables, multiple fiber optic, multiple coaxial digital cables....multiple bluesound devices.....the Fios cable box....the tv....can it???
I’m being very patient because i really really love everything about the RMC 1 when it’s working.....am i missing something that i can trouble shoot??? I don’t know man....
And one more thing i should add....when this 1st started around the 2nd week in August when i started trouble shoot i removed the RMC 1 and installed the Yamaha Receiver RX A3080 to use as the processor. This was what i used prior to purchasing the RMC 1 and no problems at all....Told this to the rep after i did that and he still didn’t think the RMC 1 was the reason for all of these issues...
Whatever advice anyone can offer I’ll take and definitely give it a shot...

Also try posting in the official RMC-1 thread where more people having and using the RMC-1 follow.

At this point I would return it or see if Emotiva would swap it for another unit. My unit does not have any issues like yours, so it may be a bad unit.

The only other option here is to try each source individually leaving the others unplugged to see if one of your sources is causing some sort of EDID issue with the HDMI board. Getting a new RMC1 may still not resolve your issues in which case you will need to look at another processor.

I have had my RMC-1 since March and at first it constantly crashed when selecting certain settings. I still have a few gremlims ,but not as bad as you are having. My advice would be to
1. Disconnect all your cources from the RMC-1. Hdmi's, coax, optical, usb rca etc. You could also isolate your Power amp xlr connections 2. Reinstall the latest 1.5 firmware or email Damian Steele at emotiva. He actually sent me a beta 1.6 firmware which I am using at the moment. 3. When the update is complete carry out a factory reset..( I know this will remove all your previous settings, but starting from a blank page can't do any harm). 4. Power up and go into settings. 5. Ensure you don't activate hdmi arc..( this causes probelms with mine, so until it is resolved I have deactivated it. 6. On your hdmi input sources you have connected, ensure that you are using Hdmi 2.0 cables and if you are connecting an older bluray or hd-dvd ensure you set the hdmi on you RMC-1 for that output to HDMI Type 1.4 ( If you don't it causes freezing and crashing) 7. In the set up Advanced options. Standby - Video Remains On and USB Audio UAC is on. 8. If I listen to audio through RCA or XLR ( I have oppo ud-205 connected for stereo this way) I ensure I have REFERENCE STEREO activated on my RMC-1. 9. I use my TV optical cable for audio on my RMC-1 ( This is due to the HDMI ARC issue mentioned earlier) 10. I have my usb audio files connected to my Oppo udp 205. I then either play them through hdmi and get full 24/192 24/96 , DSD or PCM..or I listen via the XLR/RCA STEREO REFERENCE OUTPUT OF THE RMC-1. 11.I occassionally lose all audio when switching from XLR to optical. I was having to reboot to get audio back, but have now discovered if I change the INPUT to AES/EBU and back to whatever I want to listen to, the audio returns. 12. Connect up your sources on at a time and check the function of the source and how the RMC reacts to each one. 13. Keep adding each source and should it develop any gremlins there may be some kind of incompatibility issue that needs addressing, whether it be the source or the cable connesting the source. 14. Don't forget to reconnect your amps. 15. If you find the fault or everything is resolved, you can then re input naming your hdmi souces and setting speaker distances etc.
I hope this helps in some way
