Hello, new guy here . Intro in another thread . Anyway, I recently put the BasX Pt-100 into my system and was disappointed that the base became quite 'muddy' sounding . It replaced an old/failed Yamaha C6 . My connections from the C6 were RCA 'Y' connectors on the pre out to the SVS sb1000 powered subwoofer . On the pt-100 I connected 2 RCA to the 'sub' connectors . I have not yet tried the RCA 'Y' connectors
on the pt-100 out . I wanted to do a little more listening to compare the changes . Any thoughts on this experience ?
thanks, JD

jd7 The PT-100 bass output is full range - there is no bass management. So it is likely that your subwoofer is playing the full range sound and producing the sound that your main speakers are doing as well making it sound muddy. You have to adjust your subwoofer hipass/cutoff crossover to blend with your speakers. You can use a frequency sweep to do it by ear (search for frequency sweep on Youtube). Or you can do the same thing with microphones for a more precise curve- which requires some technical skills. You may also have to adjust the phase and the volume to make sure that the subwoofer isn't louder than the speakers.

Yep garbulky is right, with your Klipsch RB600 I think that you might set your SVS crossover around 60hz.

Thanks very much for the replies . I guess I'm assuming since I was hooked up to 'full range ' output ie: pre out on the old C6 with tone controls defeated , I would not hear a change since I had already done the setup process completely with the sub as mentioned , crossover, phase, volume. I'm not adverse to doing it again , just surprised by the noticeable difference .I will get back you .

Actually I didn't realize the PT-100 sub was full range until B'zilla pointed it out.

So, after changing the connections FROM sub out TO pre out for the sub there a noticeable difference, for me anyway . There must be some difference with the sub out internally ?

So, after changing the connections FROM sub out TO pre out for the sub there a noticeable difference, for me anyway . There must be some difference with the sub out internally ? YES THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. So each one of these subwoofer outputs.... are SUMMED. Which means each of them has both the left and the right signal in it converted into mono. The correct way to do a the subwoofer output (THE SUMMED ONE not pre-out) is to use only one of the subwoofer outputs per subwoofer. If you have two subwoofers you can use the pre-out to get one subwoofer playing the left channel and one playing the right channel. More info on page 5 and 10 of your manual. cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2572/6926/files/BASX_PT-100_User_Manual_v10.pdf?5495441154491181254So if you are connecting both of the subwoofer outputs to the red white inputs of your sub then you may be encountering an issue. Vs the pre-out where the output is not summed. The right signal has the right full range output and the left signal has the left full range output.

An easy enough change to test
