I have used my XPA-200 150 w/channel 8 ohms, 240 w/channel 4 ohms with Magnepan MMG’s in the past to great success. But LRS is a true ribbon and requires more power. I usually listen at about 85 dB max. I am driving xpa -200 with xsp -1 gen 1 preamp. Has anyone used a similar setup to drive the LRS ? I can get the LSR three feet from the wall and room is 14’ x 22’ with 8’ ceilings. Sorry to have been away from forum for so long. Any feedback would be appreciated. Matthew

I currently use tube amps to drive my 1.7s which are much much larger. I use two subwoofers (most likely you will also need one) but my average listening level is 76 to 80db. I have driven MG12s with UPA-1 amps in the past with no problem.

I used to drive 1.6s with 150 wpc, so I’m confident you’ll be fine. FYI it’s the bass and mid bass panels that take the power. The tweeters quasi or ribbon are easy to drive.

Even though these are low efficiency speakers they are also an easy load (almost like a pure resistor) to drive for any amp that is well rated for 4 ohm operation. With a 86dB of sensitivity you should not have an issue reaching 85dB across the spectrum with 240 watts. I would look into a good sub to pair it with rather than looking for another amp if you want more volume.

Thanks for all excellent feedback. I have two 10” HSU subs that I used with my MMG’s in the past with good results. I also have a set of Paradigm Monitor 7, v5 that I use for classic rock. Matthew
