Hi, My name is Randy and I'm brand new here. I live in Fallbrook, CA. Currently building a new house that's supposed to be done either late December or early January. Putting together a music/surround system in the new loft. Currently have Martin Logan XT60's, XT50 center and FX2's for the rear surrounds. I've prewired the room for four rear speakers and four ceiling speakers. Denon AVR-X4500 used pretty much as a processor and two Emotiva 5175's for the ceiling and rears and a custom XPA-6 for the front speakers bi-amped. Subs I'm leaning towards twin SVS SB-3000 or 4000's. I've also got two Denon 1500's to used wirelessly (Airply2/Heos) for the garage and patio/outside speakers.
I'm 58 and have been into music as long as I can remember. I've got a pretty extensive collection of signed memorabilia (mostly Classic Rock stuff) and have played drums for about 40 years (not professionally). I've also got at least 100 MOFI CD's (mostly gold but some SACD's) that I've been collecting since about 1985ish. Unfortunately my previous house in AZ got burglarized in 2017 so I lost five signed guitars and I'm slowly building that collection up as well. Yes the new house will have an alarm system and extensive camera set-up.
About it for now but thought I should as least introduce myself before commenting on the boards.

Welcome aboard man! I'd be messed up for years if I had any of my guitars stolen. They're not worth tons of money, it's just the memories.
Got stuff from both grandfathers as they were pro musicians. I'm not very good at all except for a lousy garage jam with beer, but it's still fun. Scott

Welcome Randy ... hope you enjoy The Lounge!
Sorry to hear about the guitars, I have several though none signed (do you use your own handwriting or pretend you’re someone famous? 😆) I also got a couple of SVS SB-4000’s earlier this summer and think they’re great. I haven’t compared but the 3000 may be the same sub without the cool App and presets, they should sound good too.
In NorCal here ... —Bruce

Welcome Randy,
Putting together a new room is such an awesome thing, when we bought our first house that we still reside in slowly building what I wanted for a setup was really enjoyable, great to have another audio nut here on the lounge.
Cheers, Chad

Hi Randy, Best of luck to you in your new abode...…. That sucks about the guitars.....sounds like somebody knew exactly what they were looking for? We have a common thread. Took up the drums in the sixties and played semi pro (union player) and fun stuff for decades until around 2003, when I just walked from the playing. Too much frustration having the right venue vs. all the effort, I suppose......these days I'm very content to be an avid listener and enthusiast. Headed for object based.....sounds like with all of those speakers? Bill

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. In regards to the robbery, inside job as we had contractors doing flooring. Stole my truck from the garage among some other things. Got the truck back but that's it. Everything else long gone. Three in custody, one just out of prison for Burglary with his 17 year old kid and another loser (I'm being nice ). Still somewhat bothersome but I've managed to learn from it and move on.

Hi Randy and welcome to the lounge.
I had just buy a month ago two SB-3000 and they are beasts for movies and joy for music. As per SVS themselves they only have a few dB less of max SPL than the SB-4000 for a lot less volume space, very impressive, never seen before in a small seal box like this. They're replacing my old monster SVS PB12-PLUS/2 150lbs and I absolutely mis nothing, On the contrary I gained on precision, control, transient and subtillity of the bass response for the same volume output. I don't think the SB-4000 worth the extra money except if you have a very large room.

OK, thanks for the input on the SVS subs. I won't know exactly which ones I'll buy until I'm actually setting up the room. I'll be purchasing most likely in January sometime.
