And I watch movies at 75db with peaks of 105db not including lfe.. so I would require 95 watts for my 99db speakers at 16 feet to reach that spl.. And 54watts to each of my 93db surrounds and Atmos speakers at 6feet. Apparently the a-100 isn't enough even for my high sensitivity speakers.. Keep in mind most of that volume and power demands comes from your fronts. So your surrounds will not be hitting 105 db. The total volume of 105 db comes from a combination of all your speakers not from each speaker. So lower amp power requirements especially if one is going for a separate amp for just the surrounds. Each speaker in MY room NEEDS to be capable of 105db... Whole I don't disagree for most people what you say is totally true, there's always going to be an exception to your rule.. My system loafs along using only a couple watts for most of its use but on occasion o need a few hundred for those peaks... That's where you find out that you shouldn't have cheaped out.
