Keep in mind most of that volume and power demands comes from your fronts. So your surrounds will not be hitting 105 db. The total volume of 105 db comes from a combination of all your speakers not from each speaker. So lower amp power requirements especially if one is going for a separate amp for just the surrounds.

Each speaker in MY room NEEDS to be capable of 105db...

Whole I don't disagree for most people what you say is totally true, there's always going to be an exception to your rule..
My system loafs along using only a couple watts for most of its use but on occasion o need a few hundred for those peaks... That's where you find out that you shouldn't have cheaped out.
