Hi, I've just replaced my old Denon AVR with XMC-1 which has not been upgraded to HDMI 2.0 . Everything is working fine except for the Sonos Connect where I stream Spotify. I connected it to XMC-1 via Optical 2 and also via the RCA jacks. Both resulted in the sound coming from the subwoofer only and not from the speakers. I switched it to optical 1 where the CD Player is connected (and working well). Same result. Did I do something wrong here in connecting the Sonos Connect to XMC-1? Any help or suggestion is greatly appreciated.

That is really strange...
With a stereo source, like Spotify, I would expect the Sonos to deliver pretty much the same output as a CD player... Are you sure there aren't some settings that you missed on the Sonos (perhaps it thinks you've connected it to a separate subwoofer or something like that)?

I have a Connect working just fine with my XMC-1 via optical. Check the mode settings and make sure it is in "auto" or "stereo" as well as the speaker settings for that input.

OK. Thanks for the suggestion. I will try your suggestions this week-end and let you know how it goes.

The fact that it's not working on your CD input but your CD player is working well on the same XMC-1 input tells me it's something in the Sonos.
I've had Sonos Connects to my XMC-1 and never had that problem ever.
I just went into my Sonos settings and I don't see any setting that would cause what you are experiencing, though. Can you try the Sonos through another piece of gear to rule out the Sonos?

I was thinking of XMC-1 settings. It sounds like it is not decoding the SONOS stream correctly. It is stereo only IIRC.

Last night I had a chance to connect the Sonos to Optical 3. Lo and behold it worked without me playing around with the settings. Not sure what the problem was. Thanks for the replies.
