Need some assistance here. I am trying to determine the proper connections for my speakers on the back of the XMC-2. Page 94 of the manual raelly doesn't address anything beyond 7.1 very well. I'm aware that there are all kinds of preferred distances & angles for an optimized Atmos setup; my room is small and the conditions like most are less than optimal, so I've taken some liberties. I have what one might call a 5.1.6 or possibly a 7.1.4. - JBL 4312s left & right front slightly toed in to the listening area, - Mirage sub - Emotiva C1 center channel, - E2 surrounds mounted about 41" off the floor, - 6 Mirage Nanosats mounted as follows:
- L & R of the projector screen box & directly above JBLs sitting at about 9'
- L & R sitting ahead of listening positions, in line with JBLs closer to 12'
- L & R slightly behind & to the sides of the theater seating
The ceiling is sloped except on the wall by the screen where it flattens out for a couple of feet and I could relocate the front channels higher up from the wall to the ceiling if it made a difference. That said, I am really looking for recommendations on which balanced outputs onthe XMC-2 to utilize for the 6 "overhead" channels or 8 if you include the E2s]. Also, when Dirac is available , is there anything I'll need to know/do or will it assist me with the timing/distance etc I've chosen for the speakers so they work as well as they can [in DTS & Atmos] given their current mounting positions? I'm including a picture to help supplement my description of the layout. XMC-2_user_manual_v10 speaker setup.pdf (50.76 KB)

You know that the XMC-2 isn't designed to drive speakers, right? All of those XLR outputs go to external amplifiers.
As far as your room set up, leave the main speakers low. Only the ATMOS speakers should be mounted high.

Yes. I'm aware of that this connects to Emotiva's 11 channel amp. My question more simply put is what xlr connectors correspond with my 6 overhead channels on the XMC2. The manual only shows 7.1 setup and certainly they have some recommendations since it's designed to service 16 channels.

It can connect to any amp as long as all the amp the channels equal the amount of speakers you have. That said, I think this is what you're asking for.
