same tv->pioneer vx503=atmos (on netflix) same tv->xmc2 =no atmos (on netflix, atmos is passed on the other streaming platforms) nvidia shield->xmc2->tv =no atmos (on netflix, the others pass atmos fine)
im sorry i dont know what G3P is, do you mind telling me, as im really tired of digging through hundreds of pages on this forum
im running 7.1.6, tons of static pops, every time it bitrate/khz/surround mode/stereo switches theres static....if more than one thing changes the static pop becomes worse, so when browsing netflix and picking something with 5.1, its quite an embarrassing moment, even worse going from stereo mp3 to atmos, omg

a little more digging, and it works every time with lost in space, however space cowboy bebob, it worked once and then after that a no go however while testing this, on different titles, the xmc2 decided not play any sound until it was rebooted twice...some titles it works some not so much. im seriously tired of the xmc2, it needs painfully slow reboots all the time, so i put an xmas light timer on it that cuts power in the early morning every day, just so it works most of the time. turn the tv off for a short while and 50% of the time there will be no sound when you come back. when watching a preview on netflix, and i start the show or movie...and it switches from stereo to surround or vice versa, always accompanied with loud static pop, not very highend, heck my cheap yamaha+pioneer+onkyo recievers NEVER pops like that....doesnt matter what the source is, if the cmx2 has to change from one codec to another, its almost always accompanied with, a static pop....i would be ok with this on an old amp, with worn out relays or potentiometers...but so called highend preamp...sigh wife just said she would pay 50% of a new receiver, just to get rid of the xmc2 and all its issues...i wonder if the AT300 or monoprice preamps shares anything with the XMC2 So there is a problem with netflix, ARC, and Atmos with the G3P processors. Emotiva says they are working the issue. What I don't understand is the pops that people keep mentioning. I will rarely get a pop which is not very loud or long using my Apple TV 4K (latest version). Again, very rare. You can view my equipment below in my signature block. Would it be because I don't use ARC/CEC, or that my system currently is just 5.1? Really curious here.... Same with me on the pops. I do hear it every now and then but it’s not loud and doesn’t impact my overall experience with the unit. The worst pops are in the Disney+ app. When you exit a program, it almost always pops. Well maybe more of a crackle 😬.

I'm only able to get DD+ 5.1 sound on the XMC-2 via HDMI ARC using the built-in Netflix TV app on an LG OLED B7 I have an `8K` Monoprice cable that claims it can support eARC. I have been able to get Dolby Atmos from the TV setup on a Dolby demo app running on the TV, although it doesn't always lock in, and I have to manually restart the video to get Atmos to lock in. So I know that it's physically possible with the setup. Anyone else have luck with a similar setup? Thanks UpdateI was able to get Dolby Atmos on the Prime Video app with Jack Ryan season 2. Wonder what's different about Netflix. Hi everyone I have Philips OLED856 - no Atmos if managed via eARC between TV and XMC-2, however if I run Atmos via Panasonic UB820 (built-in app) Atmos goes without problem

This will require me unplugging both my TV and XMC2 and replugging. Even then it doesn’t guarantee that the ARC will work. But we will see....

I went with a Nvidia Shield TV Pro. My BR player doesn't offer much for streaming options and I gave up on streaming via ARC from my TV. I don't use CEC or ARC at all on anything if I can help it. I know it's easy to fall into the "for what I pay for my equipment, it should just work" but the sad reality is the HDMI ARC stuff just isn't regulated enough or something because the problems are industry wide, not just Emotiva. I'd rather spend a little more money and get a dedicated streaming device that goes directly to the RMC-1 and not have the issues with not getting the surround sound codecs that are available. I streamed Mad Max Fury Road the other night from Seren with Kodi on my Nvidia Shield Pro and my RMC-1 showed this: Atmos/TrueHD. I have not had problems with Prime or Netfix either. When I was trying to use my TV as the source I had issues with Netflix. I figure I'll let my TV worry about giving me a great picture. I'll let my RMC-1 worry about giving me a great sound. And I'll let my dedicated streaming device focus on streaming. I have to think it will do a better job that a TV trying to be a jack of all trades.

This was addressed on the RMC-1/RMC-1L/XMC-2 Owners Thread (Post Firmware v1.10). It was found that the issue was the Netflix app wasn't allowing Atmos to stream. I ran into that issue when I was trying to use my old TV (Fire TV) as a source. Prime worked for Atmos, Netflix didn't. I blamed Amazon for screwing over Netflix to make Prime better but in the end it was Netflix doing it to itself.

In my quest to know, I came across this today regarding NETFLIX and ATMOS availability. It's from: www.digitaltrends.com/home-theater/dolby-atmos-surround-sound/#!6r1Np" Netflix, for instance, has a good selection of Dolby ATMOS movies and shows. But the company’s rules around which devices are given access to ATMOS versions are very strict: Only devices that can fully decode Dolby ATMOS are granted the right to stream ATMOS soundtracks.
At the moment, we know of only a few streaming devices that do this: The Apple TV 4K, the Nvidia Shield TV 2019, the Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019 (its more powerful sibling), Amazon’s Fire TV Cube, and Microsoft’s Xbox One S and X gaming consoles.
All other ATMOS-capable streamers — like Roku Ultra or Amazon’s Fire TV 4K — use Dolby ATMOS passthrough (they simply send the ATMOS content straight through to the TV, soundbar, or A/V receiver for decoding). As such, the Netflix app denies them access to Dolby ATMOS soundtracks. " This helps to possibly explain why trying to get ATMOS to be available when streaming from tv's via ARC won't work. When I read this it leads me to conclude it's NETFLIX that is not cooperating and allowing PASSTHROUGH to let the stream hit our processor. Am I understanding this correctly?

Atmos/TrueHD. I have not had problems with Prime or Netfix either. When I was trying to use my TV as the source I had issues with Netflix. Just to clarify, though all of the G3Ps report this, no one actually streams the lossless Dolby TrueHD, it’s actually DD+/E-AC-3, but may come from your streaming device as LPCM which makes it difficult for the G3P to know what it actually is (at least thats what the TV does). Some AVRs seem to get this right, but Emotiva is not alone in misreporting it.
