I'm only able to get DD+ 5.1 sound on the XMC-2 via HDMI ARC using the built-in Netflix TV app on an LG OLED B7
I have an `8K` Monoprice cable that claims it can support eARC.
I have been able to get Dolby Atmos from the TV setup on a Dolby demo app running on the TV, although it doesn't always lock in, and I have to manually restart the video to get Atmos to lock in. So I know that it's physically possible with the setup.
Anyone else have luck with a similar setup?
Thanks
Update I was able to get Dolby Atmos on the Prime Video app with Jack Ryan season 2. Wonder what's different about Netflix.

Even then it doesn’t guarantee that the ARC will work. But we will see....

Well I couldn’t get my HDMI ARC to work. So unfortunately I don’t know if Atmos is being passed on Netflix.

So I ended up getting an AppleTV 4k. It required some tweaking on the TV, to enable Deep Color, but it works! Full uncompressed Dolby TrueHD sound with Atmos

Not to derail...but I recently cut the cord and went to YouTubeTV. With the Roku installed in the XMC-1, all works perfectly.
When I attempted to utilize NetFlix thru the LG 65 C9, I was relegated to the TV speaker.
I installed (1) optical cable from the digital out on the C9 to the #1 optical in on the XMC-1. NADA!
Is it a settings issue? Or a connection issue?

HDCP issue. Sounds probable. Any suggestions on a workaround?
Remove HDMI cable from LG to XMC-1 and hard reboot to all components?

Has anyone been able to get this (see thread title) to work? I can’t even get any audio over ARC let alone Atmos. I have an HDMI from LG’s HDMI Input #2 (ARC) to XMC-2 main Zone Out #2 (ARC). Is this the correct way to connect them for ARC? I’m a total noob when it comes to ARC, but I’d REALLY like to get it to work to avoid the expense of buying an AppleTV 4K.

ARC, with its sister CEC, are the devils twins, best avoided.

Yes I got it to work with my LG C7 but it’s very moody. Some days it works perfectly and other days I get no sound. So, I primarily use ATV4K with the terrible remote.

i got it to work sort of
1 on my LG CX i switch tv to internal speaker, enable atmos, now netflix shows atmos if its available, if not switch to prime and then back again to NF. 2 start movie 3 make sure xmc2 is on hdmi-arc 4 switch tv from internal speaker to hdmi ARC, after nasty crackle/static pop as always when the xmc2 changes codec and you will have atmos
movie can be paused using the play and pause button on remote, however if you exit the movie/show, atmos goes away and you have to repeat it all
now the questions is why does the xmc2 not tell the tv or netflix that it can do atmos

We've been discussing this issue in the G3P owner's thread.

a little more digging, and it works every time with lost in space, however space cowboy bebob, it worked once and then after that a no go
however while testing this, on different titles, the xmc2 decided not play any sound until it was rebooted twice...some titles it works some not so much.
im seriously tired of the xmc2, it needs painfully slow reboots all the time, so i put an xmas light timer on it that cuts power in the early morning every day, just so it works most of the time. turn the tv off for a short while and 50% of the time there will be no sound when you come back.
when watching a preview on netflix, and i start the show or movie...and it switches from stereo to surround or vice versa, always accompanied with loud static pop, not very highend, heck my cheap yamaha+pioneer+onkyo recievers NEVER pops like that....doesnt matter what the source is, if the cmx2 has to change from one codec to another, its almost always accompanied with, a static pop....i would be ok with this on an old amp, with worn out relays or potentiometers...but so called highend preamp...sigh
wife just said she would pay 50% of a new receiver, just to get rid of the xmc2 and all its issues...i wonder if the AT300 or monoprice preamps shares anything with the XMC2

Emotiva says they are working the issue. What I don't understand is the pops that people keep mentioning. I will rarely get a pop which is not very loud or long using my Apple TV 4K (latest version). Again, very rare. You can view my equipment below in my signature block. Would it be because I don't use ARC/CEC, or that my system currently is just 5.1? Really curious here....

now the questions is why does the xmc2 not tell the TV or Netflix that it can do atmos HDMI is a chain. XMC tells the TV it can do it, but its up to the TV to negotiate that with the Netflix app. As you can start to see, the issue is with that app (or the set's implementation of it). Stick to a dedicated well known streamer that is more "universal" with the way it handles Netflix regardless of the TV or AVR/AVP.
