My cousin's father in law had to be put in an assisted living place due to Alzheimer's disease. The house was being cleared out to prep for sale. In a spare room a Dynaco Preamp and Amp was discovered boxed up. The father in law had built it many years ago and at some point packed it up stuck it in a closet. No... It's not a Tube setup. It's all solid state from the mid 70s. Last night we connected it and ran an ipod into the Aux. Then connected a set of Bose 301 speakers. Sounded really nice. Probably would sound much better with different speakers and proper source material. The music was not the best for playback. question .. does anyone know of a tech place that specializes in this equipment? Maybe it needs a few things cleaned and checked/replaced. Anyone know of people that specialize in Dynaco products? The physical condition is excellent. All of the manuals and diagrams are intact. The power switch on the preamp seems a bit gummy and the power light flickers a bit. Also, there seems to be a power light on the amp, but it doesn't light up. A cool discovery!

I can't help with a source for service, but can vouch for the Dynaco units putting out some great sound. Had a couple of Stereo 400 amps and built a PAT-5 to go with them. It was audio nirvana at the time!
Good luck finding a service tech!

We're also trying to understand the diagram showing connections.. for some reason they show speaker wire from speakers connection on preamp to speaker connection on Amp. Wth?
Why are there even speaker connections on preamp?

You can find out just about everything there is to know on AudioKarma. Do a search in the solid state forum with your questions. Sign up and you can post questions to the forum.

Ok.. figured out the speaker terminals on preamp.. it's to allow switching between speaker sets from the preamp. Weird.. have never seen that.
