Well here I am bitching yet again about this Pre-amp. Sent in a few months back to solve the problem of it not turning on, and it was fixed at a flat rate 300 bucks. Now, for no reason at all it shuts off....you can't make this Sh*# up. Left it on today as I went to work.....got home the XSP-1 and XPA-2 were off ( trigger thing) everything else was still on ( tuner & turn table). So I turned it back on.....and after being on for about 4 hours as I was listening to music , it shuts off......on it's own. So I immediately hit the remote and turn it back on.....now I wait. Any ideas out there why in the hell this would / could now be happening?? I'm at about my end with this pre-amp, too much $$ invested to sell, I'd lose my ass and feel I'm passing off an inferior product to the next dummy that drinks the blue Kool-Aid. This has got me wondering if Emotiva as a company sells good power amps and that's all....maybe I should've walked away, my XPA2 & XPA3 both Gen 1's are what got me thinking to buy other things........sadly.
Frustrating. Stay tuned for an XSP1-Gen2 for the cost of shipping, PayPal fess & 2 twelve packs of a nice IPA.

Not familiar with your original problem, but did you buy this new?

Not familiar with your original problem, but did you buy this new? No I did not, used on Audiogon, and then the seller basically ghosted me. I've posted a few topics on this XSP-1 and it's issues. I truly think this one was built on night shift, the day before a weekend, leading in to a holiday ( if the Chinese are allowed to mail it in without being disciplined ). I just don't trust this thing.....and it's sad, because I want to like it.

If this thing takes another dump I’m moving back to Parasound.

I smell a rat. The buyer sold you a problem unit then disappeared. You have no idea what happened to that xsp-1. My apologies for your problems, that sucks big time.
Try unplugging the trigger cable and see if it will keep going.
Schiiy Freya S at $599 is very tempting to me, but no trigger or bass management.

I’m only using mine for 2 channel rig right now. I’ve got an older UMC-1 that I bought from a member here while the XSP was getting fixed hooked up for the tv and such. I’ll try the trigger cable as you suggested and see what happens, Thx.

To be completely honest Schiit Audio became the company I wanted Emotiva to be. Schiit is focused on 2ch audio including some tube hardware.
Emotiva seems focused on very expensive HT gear.
I don't think your XSP-1 problems are really Emotiva's fault. But I get your frustration.
For 2 channel only Schiit has 4 PreAmps. The Freya S and + are balanced and 599/899 each. The Saga S and + are less and single ended only. The + models are tube preamps.
Good luck.

I own a headphone amp from them and really like it. I guess to each his own.

I'm not ever going to be in the market for a $5k processor. My Yamaha RX-A2070 worked right out of the box and has never needed a firmware update. I've seen too many buyers of Emo gear complain of exploding capacitors and other problems that shouldn't be happening to audio gear for 20 years or more. And God help anyone that comes on these forums and has a problem, they will more often than not get flamed for stating a problem with their Emo gear. I've got a used XDA-2 with a hum in the RH channel. This type of gear should last many decades, not just a handful of years. I don't think I'll ever buy another piece of Emo gear again. The UMC-1 I bought should have been a warning, I wasn't listening.

My guess is they won't warranty the unit just shutting it's self off. I'll call when I get a chance but I'm not expecting anything honestly.
