Guys, I'm still working on putting together a system for my friends theather room. Looks like we are going 5.1 for now and may add Atmos in the future. While know this is not ideal, we are looking at Klispch tower speakers, some 6-1/2 ones, center and surround. As of now everything will be powered from an AVR. Looking at maybe Marantz or Denon units in the 100WPC range. I was wondering if anyone here has played the Emotiva speakers on an AVR and if they sound okay. Better or worse than maybe a Klispch set, or if it will make a difference? Ideally we get the right speakers first, then in the future when funds open up more we can swap the AVR for a true pre/pro amp setup.

My vote would be Denon and Airmotiv speakers I was pretty impressed with the Denon receiver I purchased a few years back for my mom, and Klipsch is a big known name which turns me off, I have heard klipsch speakers once and wasn't drawn into them and thought they were ugly with the copper looking drivers haha, I really like the open and detailed sound my T1 offer. Just my opinion and .02 though Pair of T2 on US Audio mart for $500 just an FYI Chad

I thought that the T series speakers were 4 ohm rated. I'd probably not put them on a Denon because they are generally rated for 6-8 ohm speakers.
Mayne find a good deal on a NAD receiver with Dirac?

The Marantz and many Denon's can do 4ohm speakers, you have to adjust the setting in the menus of the AVR. But the 4ohms do worry me a little in would I be pushing the AVR too hard as opposed to the 8 ohm Klipsch?

If a receiver cannot handle a 4ohm speaker I would definitely cross it off my list as I myself wouldn't consider it a worthy piece of audio gear in my system

Hey, I just wanted to say that I was in a very similar situation awhile back. I was searching for a good pair of tower speakers, and I had read a lot of reviews praising the T1s. Then I read about the 4ohm rating being hard to drive and got scared off. I had a sony dn1080 receiver that was only 6-8ohm compatible according to the specs and it was fairly new so I didn't want to buy a new one. So I bought a pair of klipch towers instead. I liked them at first, but found they became extremely fatiguing the more I listened to them. So I went back to a pair of emotiva B1s which were 8ohm and a C1. I liked the sound and they were much more relaxed than the klipch, but in the back of my mind I still really wanted towers. So then the T1s went on closeout and I decided to give them a try. WOW! Coming from the B1s I wasn't expecting that much of a difference, but they are absolutely fantastic. At first I was constantly putting my hand over my receiver checking for heat so see if it was running into any issues, but if anything it felt cooler than it had with my B1s. I know the T1s have greater sensitivity than the B1s (can play louder with less power) so maybe that's why. But all I know is I love their sound and my receiver despite not officially supporting 4ohm, seems to have no trouble what so ever driving them.
So long story short, I wouldn't let the 4ohm rating scare you off from these fantastic speakers.
