Hello all,
On Wednesday of this week, two XPA DR-1 amps were delivered to my home. The DR-1's will power my 32 year old Magnapan MG 2.5 R speakers.
And now a word about the delivery time for said amps. On Monday around noon, I placed my order. Several hours later I got an email stating the amps had shipped. Two days later the amps arrived via a brown truck. One would think Emotiva could deliver products quicker!

Hello all,
On Wednesday of this week, two XPA DR-1 amps were delivered to my home. The DR-1's will power my 32 year old Magnapan MG 2.5 R speakers Sweet! I purchased two DR-1s to power my 28 year old Carver Platinum Loudspeakers. For twenty-eight years I ran two stereo amps bridged mono. Then a technician friend of mine repaired a pair of circa 90s Denon monoblocks and asked if he could bring them over so I could play them hard to test them, so I did, for about three months. As soon as I gave them back to him, I ordered a pair of the DR1s and retired the bridged configuration. Monoblocks just sound so much better. Enjoy!!! I am sure you will.

There's a rumor that it's a secret society, so this thread may be putting you in jeopardy!

There's a rumor that it's a secret society, so this thread may be putting you in jeopardy! The first rule of Monoblock Club is: you don't talk about Monoblock Club.......Novisnick is already probably formulating a plan to revoke membership......allegedly.

And. and. and. What do those DR-1 amps SOUND like with the MG2.5Rs? Give me some time! I got everything set up Thursday, but have had limited listening time. The MG 2.5 R's were previously powered by the XPA 5 Gen 2 and prior to that the Adcom GFA 555. Although the speakers are 32 years old, Magnepan rebuilt them in 2014 to essentially all new specifications. I think I'm hearing tighter, more forceful, bass. The midrange and highs seem different, but in all honesty I'm so tired from the week's travel I don't trust what I'm hearing right now. I'll update my impressions soon.

gfaulk,
Welcome to the Lounge, and welcome to Emotiva's secret mono block society which does not exist. I may or may not have been a member for several years now, and I may or may not have mono block amps. What is important is that you take proper care of your new mono blocks. A secret group exist that nobody in the society talks about the Illuminati if your asked you didn't hear this from me they go around to secret mono block society members homes and inspect the mono blocks and if they see excessive dust around or inadequate air circulation you or a family member might be in danger.
So keep your mono blocks dust free, and make sure they have good air flow, enjoy those Maggie's, and if the Illuminati pay you a visit I did not send them.
