Just giving an update Ryan Newman is in serious condition at the local hospital in Daytona and is expected to recover from the injuries' he sustained in the terrible crash on the last lap. I'm personally not a Ryan Newman fan but I respect him as a driver. So I wish and his family the best.

I too wish Ryan the best. Hate these super speedway races. Go around single or double file for most of the race and then a bunch of crashes and cleanup (red flags) that take for ever (last 10 laps took about one hour). The winner is the last guy left with a car that can still get around the track. In the clash it was a car that barely could make it around the track.

The races are never going away....but over the last 50+ years, inexhaustible time and energy has been put into technology protecting the driver 1000 times over what it was like in the old days, (especially the INDY class cars.) What happened yesterday could have been a hell of a lot worse. Bill

I'm glad to see the Roush Fenway statement on Ryan. I've always like him...not my favorite driver, but a very good one and he seems to be a nice guy, too.
Wishing him rapid healing.

PS - I think the team covering the race handled the post-wreck coverage well. Very serious and professional. Also, Denny Hamlin did a great job of first expressing concern for Ryan.

They couldn’t have been more reverend or professional. Congratulations to Denny Hamlin and Team Joe Gibbs Racing! 🏁

Is Tesla have a team? François, Tesla does in fact have a Daytona 500/NASCAR team. However, the main holdup is how to change all the 7000 plus batteries (of course in modules) in a very short time. Tesla owners know the batteries under normal use last for a long time. But the continued speeds of over 200 mph (322 kmh to you) is super draining even on the Energizer Lithium batteries and Tesla had to cut way back on the number of batteries to save weight. They must be changed several times during the race which is an unacceptably lengthy process.. They have tested rechargeable Li-ion batteries with two solar recharge panels on the roof of the Tesla race car but they just don't offer fast enough charging especially when it it cloudy/raining, which is increasingly more prevalent in Daytona. Plus, as we now know thanks to a señora from New York, the Earth as we know it will incinerate in as little as 10 years. Very sad for racing fans! Je suis vraiment désolé!, Charles l'écro BTW #1: They did try a Tesla with the gull-wing doors to see if they could fly around the track but that turned out to be a dismal failure.

Gonna keep it short, no real nascar racing this season but a few drivers have had some trouble. Last week Bubba Wallace decided to "rage quit" during a virtual irace at Bristol Motor Speedway he lost his sponsorship with BLU-EMU which is planning to join nascar as a full time sponsor next year. He just got fired by the people who were going to sponsor him next season. Richard Petty I hope you're whipping his ass. Bubba Wallace is my sisters Driver!
Kyle Larson "Damn" That's all I can say. First I like him as a driver, watching him drive a car at those speeds inches off the wall I can't help but be amazed. This Sunday he probably made the biggest mistake of his life. He said the N word on virtual media and it went global. That moment changed his life! He lost his sponsors, Mc Donalds, Credit One Bank, and car manufacture Chevrolet, and then he was indefinitely suspended by Nascar, and Chip Ganissi Racing with out pay. His contract is up for negotiation after the 2020 season and their might be some really good teams he could moved to Hendrix MS, Jimmy's leaving and two other teams might be looking, but hendrix is Chevrolet so? We have to wait and see how this plays out. I'm personally sorry for both and I wish for them the best outcome.

As a side note I should add Bubba Wallace was not in the race Sunday that Kyle Larson had issues!

It's going to be very tough for him to rebuild what was once a promising career, and I'm not sure if he ever will. And frankly, if he never does - I won't miss him. Given he didn't think his mic was live, then said it - it shows the real person pretty clearly. It wasn't a mistake - it was the "real" Kyle Larson coming through. And, I just can't get behind someone like that. There are plenty of other drivers I'd be happy to root for. Mark
