Hey all, got a quick “what would you do” scenario. Now that I have the XMC-2 I have a decision to make. As I make the transition to installing my ceiling speakers I have to decide on whether to go 9.2.4 or 9.1.6. My room is 22 x 16 with two rows of seats (rear seats on a riser). I have 2 subs however would you guys go with 2 mono subs daisy chained on a single output and get 6 ceiling speakers or go 4 ceiling speakers and dual stereo subs? Curious as if there would be any sonic advantage? Anxious to hear your thoughts

I will say that I Recently went from a 7.1.2 setup to 9.1.6 and the object placement is so much more precise!
A friend of mine had a 7.1.4 setup and said that going to 9.1.6 is also a huge improvement on object placement.
Personally since I like having atmos and want the best object placement possible I would go 9.1.6 and use something like a minidsp on the sub channel that will allow you to individually set the subs up with level/phase/distance/eq ect.
I'm doing exactly that but using a Behringer NX6000D to control both subs as it has full DSP built into it.

Second for 9.1.6 with two subs in daisy chain or signal splitted. With your two rows of seats you'll take advantage of 6 ceiling speakers

Placement wise you really only get one chance to do those, and might as well get the six.

I would always use the minidsp to balance out the subs as much as you can before using any up stream processing. This will give the processor the best sub output to work with before applying Dirac ect.... Hey all, got a quick “what would you do” scenario. Now that I have the XMC-2 I have a decision to make. Anxious to hear your thoughts If you want to ensure functionality of all Dirac Bass Management module tiers when they're released, wouldn't you need at least 2 channels for your subs? If so, that would be something to take into consideration.
