I’ve got two UPA-1 monoblocks running a pair of Phase Technology PC3.5’s through a Marantz AV7704 and I’m very happy with the sound.
Although I have been looking at some other amps wondering (just wondering) if I’m missing something new in any of these newer Emotiva amps.
I’m particularly interested in the XPA HC-1 or the XPA-DRA-1.
I like the form factor of my UPA1’s and these things have some punch for some smaller footprint amps.
What would you say about this curiosity that has hit me?

Appreciate the comment.
How do you like the Marantz 8805? I’m very tempted to take this 7704 back and trade it for the 8805. What I like about that particular model is that they will upgrade the HDMI module when HDMI 2.1 becomes available.

Enjoy the ride and don't mess with success. However, if you were wanting to build another system, then the HC-1 and XPA-DRA-1 would make more sense. I have heard the UPA-1 many times and that is a great amplifier. Kind of what happens when an XPA has a kid brother that still kicks....well you know. Enjoy them and don't worry about a thing except which song is next.

The UPA series sound different from the XPA series. I have used the UPA-2 for many years (and I have heard the UPA-1). I can only speak to my expedriences. The best upgrade I have gotten is the XPA-1 gen 2. It had better speed, control, and lower end extension. In my opinion, it's the best amp I've heard. I haven't heard the DR-1 or the XPA HC-1 (which is just a single channel XPA gen 3). I didn't think the XPA-2 gen 3 sounded all that natural, though it still sounded good. Me and a friend thought the A-300 sounded better - in overall sound. It looks like the DR-1 seems to have quite a lot of good reviews....so who knows?
