Experience has taught me one of the best ways to keep an amplifier cool. Get one with twice the power you’ll need! A lot of people it seems shy away from big amps in fear of SOMETHING like blowing things up. The average car has the power to get up there close to 100, but no one drives around like that (unless your crazy) The horsepower for the system is the same (relatively speaking). If you can attain the db. level your looking for without putting the amp. to task it can last for decades

Better watts ARE better and generally No Need to have 'more' of them than you actually NEED.
Saves on electric bill maybe. Excess heat in winter can be welcome and defer heating costs a LITTLE......
You may also have a big savings in NOT needing another circuit run to the stereo to power all that amp that you probably don't need anyway....
I don't remember but Stereophile stresses amps prior to measure by running at 1/3 power for 60 minutes which is Worst Case for an A/B amp.....
A properly designed amp may be some weight PER WATT.......heavier is better. A good 'A' amp might be 1lb per watt or more?
The old Pass Labs XA30.5, a 30 watt Stereo amp SHIPS at about 75lb.....easily 1lb per 8 ohm watt as it sits on your sturdy shelf....
