I finally bit the bullet and bought an XMC-1. We heard it at the Dallas Road Show years ago, was thoroughly impressed. Fired it up for a CD listen at default settings (xover 80hz) last night and all I (& my wife) could say is O M G !!! My old Monitor Audio speakers are reborn and sound better than ever. Connected the T2+ and after 1 song switched back to the M.A.s. All the problems with balancing the sound spectrum are greatly reduced and I haven't bought Dirac Full yet. What a waste of 5 years by not getting it sooner. Ya, the technical issues Emotiva had, in the beginning, caused my hesitation. The AVM-60 is going back for service, ARC Genesis has never worked correctly since I bought it. Running the Anthem vs XMC at default settings, XMC wins hands down. Ask me if I'm smiling today?!

Ask me if I'm smiling today?! Is that a commentary on the T2+ vs. The MA's? Elaborate please. I also love the sound quality of the XMC-1 and for me, Dirac Full is well worth the $99. In my room it makes a big difference in sound stage. Enjoy!

Interesting. I was going to wait for the next generation Anthem with HDMI 2.1.

That’s wonderful news! It’s hard to believe I’m in the “remember when “ mode (sort of) with the XMC since I’ve been running it since Oct. 2014. Each year since I have re-evaluated the small pack out there in its class and there is nothing yet I would swap it out for. No problems from then till now that updating firmware didn’t solve (finished at 4.1 with my original board). Hats off to the EMOTIVA crew....as one of the earliest adopters, I had some fun with input on minor stuff that I got to see corrected directly as a result of my own input. Bill

In my room, it makes a big difference in the sound stage. Enjoy! ottaone, I've been fighting with the AVM-60 & ARC Genesis since I got it in June; it is not balancing the freq range- way too much variation. I even contacted DYohn for his advice, but couldn't help & don't want to pester him with my problem. They have me using beta version now and it still doesn't correct the mid-bass dropping very low, the Center ch finally sounds good, but that's the only thing that has improved. I send pdfs of every run to Anthem support. I keep telling Anthem I have a bad unit, but no admission from them, just "try this..." I've been on AVSforum & other forums asking for help and most think it's my error of mic placement. One person pm'd me & said they had a bad mic cause his problems. I went so far as to ignore seating and placed the mic 1/3 from the back wall, varying heights, centered and ran it- no help. So please don't let this problem sway your decision of Anthem & ARC, as I said, I believe I have a bad unit and Anthem needs to repair or replace- it's not working correctly. (I'm no genius, but not stupid either) If not for the fact it was ordered from N.C. (I'm in TX) the unit would have been replaced already or I would have gotten a refund. I contacted Star Power (Dallas) where I have done business for 20+ yrs and they told me they only service what they sell. Looks like it's going back to N.C. I'm disgusted. Be very thankful Emotiva has this forum to help people. KeithL is a HUGE asset for all of us. Thank you, Keith!!! and everyone here- great folks. Ex_Vintage, As you know, buy speakers first then build your system around them. I luv'd the Monitor Audio speakers (2.5 way) and tried 3 receivers until I decided on Denon AVR5700 (with Burr-Brown DACs) the match was perfect. The Denon lost a channel, so it was delegated to stereo use only. Since it died (17 yrs of use), I've used UMC-200, Integra DTR50.4, Anthem (cough) and now XMC. The C-CAM tweeters can be bright or "shouty" as I call it, if not matched with quality electronics & DAC. NONE have made the M.A. sing like they once did until the XMC- even without Dirac. I bought the T2 3-way for a 2 channel system using Integra receiver (lots of bells & whistles builtin and 75% off retail) because I couldn't get the performance out of the M.A.s. The XMC has brought the quality sound I've been missing and it showed me the M.A.s are still better sounding & why I got them. Sorry T2, but M.A.s got you beat with a sub. The T2's are nice, but the synergy of the M.A. system adding the XMC wins out. For years I thought my hearing was not as good (it's not) but my wife even gave me that "look" the T2 are not as precise/balanced as M.A.s, I know I found the match after years of frustration & money wasted.

Just performed latest Firmware update today- perfect, no issues and couldn't be easier.
There is so much posted about the XMC-1 that I can't possibly read, so I'm going to ask a few questions. Dirac Full is purchased but have not run yet. I see LCSeminole posted videos and about to watch those. Quick questions: From your experience, what is most important when Running Dirac? Do you find adjusting the filters afterwards necessary? What videos or documentation have you found most useful? Any advice for the rookie?

I have a wife, 2 kids, and 4 cats. I've have to re-run Dirac because I was mid-run and someone came running down the stairs yelling "what's that noise?!?!?" (They do this even if I warn them and tell them to ignore it and stay quiet. I can understand the cats not listening, but...wife and kids?) Other than that, Preparing to have several good mic positions is key. I bought a special "boom mic stand" and it's very handy. And, follow the instruction on tuning in the levels within the right range. It's easy but needs to be done. I did not adjust anything on the filters after the fact, but my room is pretty easy and the initial sound was great. I think there used to be a video of Lonnie showing how it's run. But, it's been years since I watched it. Good luck! Mark

READ THE MANUAL Looking for a download link for the Dirac Live 1.0 manual as seen in a video of the mic, cable & manual being opened after purchased. I went to the activation page again and there is no link to it. btw- there is no XMC-1 product page anymore. How do I know if Dirac has the correct Mic text file? Home page of Dirac program has my 5.1 system listed as 7.1 and will not change.

There is still a page because they are selling the Factory re-certified ones, and if you click on Specs & Downloads you can access a few things at the bottom like the Manual and Dirac Live for Emotiva FAQ PDF files emotiva.com/collections/processors/products/xmc-1
