Looking to see if anyone has any suggestions for Atmos in ceiling. Currently have a drop ceiling. A year ago I installed four Definitive Technology DI 8R in ceiling speakers for my Atmos and I am very happy with them. I also encased them with 12" XTC foam baffles from Parts Express. They are full range speakers with pivoting tweeters, so they sound very good with music as well. The Definitive Technology website has them listed for $399 each. I found them online at ABT. ABT is a Definitive Technology authorized seller so the speakers carry the Definitive Technology manufacturer's 5 year warranty not a substitute warranty. I just checked the ABT website and they are on sale for $168 each, I paid $199 each. I think you would be happy with them. My review is on the ABT website as well. Specifications: Driver complement: 1-inch (25mm) pivoting Aluminum dome tweeter axially aligned with a 8" (20 cm) BDSS bass/midrange driver Frequency response: 26Hz - 30kHz Impedance: 4 - 8 Ohms Sensitivity: 90 dB Recommended associated amplifier power: 10 - 225 WPC Inputs: One pair of gold plated heavy-duty spring-loaded terminals Available finishes: Paintable white (see manual for painting instructions) www.abt.com/product/47459/Definitive-Technology-White-8-Ceiling-Speaker-Each-DI8R.html

I used Airmotiv E1’s mounted to the ceiling (similar to what retrobill did above), but my wife eventually had an “aesthetic” cow and I replaced them with an “in ceiling” solution using four Micca M-6C speakers. At $35 per speaker, I’m thoroughly pleased with their performance and they’ll stay put until Emotiva comes up with their own “in ceiling” solution. If you’re interested, you can find them HERE. They also offer an 8” version for only $5 more per speaker. Looking at the components used in the crossover network, they are very similar to the popular RSL solution (also mentioned above) for less than 1/3rd of the price per speaker. It would not surprise me if they were sourced from the same OEM. For Atmos effects, they’re quite the bargain...
