In reviewing the S8 Sub manual, I read the following:
Use the High Level Inputs to connect the the Flex Sub directly to the Speaker Outputs on an AVR or amplifier that doesn’t have line level outputs. WARNING: Because this connection uses a common ground, it should NOT be used with amplifiers that have fully balanced outputs, like our XPA-DR2 or PA-1.
I was wondering if one could just hook up only the two (L&R) positive connections from the amp such as the PA-1 to the S8 and not connect the negative connection (float the negative)? If hum exists one could use a chassis ground as well?
This is the way REL recommends hooking up their subs via high level when using Class D amps.
Thanks.
