Hi there, I have been looking at the Emotiva A-300 amplifier, I currently have an Adcom 545ii and was looking to upgrade. Would the A-300 be a noticeable difference in sound? I've really been impressed with the A300 specs, just wanted to see if it would be worth the plunge if what I already have in my system is better or if it's close to being the same. Thanks!
I have own Adcom amps and they are to forward sounding for my taste. I prefer Rotel amps. Having said that, at one time I had an Adcom 545, Rotel 936 and an Emotiva UPA-500 and the Emotiva was my favorite out of those three.

Ultimately your ears will tell where the magic is. All these amps are fine choices. I sold Rotel for over 10 years and liked what they did. The RB-1090 is still in my top 10 favorite amps of all time. I use to kid it was too good for a Rotel. It was very musical and powerful, and did not carry itself like other amps I heard. I had a friend with one. His setup was very nice, and I liked it. The RB-1090 and his Naim CD player were the stars of the show. The CD player I could skip, but if I had a chance to get an RB-1090. Yeah would be very happy. The A-300 is very well received, and getting this kind of power for so little? Have fun trying to beat this. For brand new with a 3 year warranty, it is a must buy if it makes sense to you. Your other gear may come and go, but a great Amplifier and Speakers are timeless.
Yes, I totally agree.. for the price it is definitely hard to beat. So I pulled the trigger on the A300 and so far, I am totally impressed! Very clean and clear sound. I was really surprised at the difference I heard. It still has to break in but so far so good, and no problem with the fans yet either, I've read that they are a problem for some but I don't generally listen at very high volume. The amp pairs nicely with my T Zero's.
The A-300 will offer a more refined sound but the Adcom will most likely sound more dynamic or bigger. The speakers you own is a huge determining factor and how you like to listen to your music.
