No I never got the F206s. I went the other way and upgraded my mains to the Revel Salons. I did hear the F206 when I bought my F208 a while back and they are very good speakers. Yeah, I thought the F206 was a little more lively while the F208 was a bit more laid back. I'm not sure how the tone controls on the F208 were configured though... I think that impression is due to the fact that the F208 outputs a little more bass. The F208 in a live room sounded pretty bright too so I had to use the tweeter control to turn it down -0.5. But I didn’t have the controls in my F228Be and I don’t use them in the salons. I think for the price the F206 is a great value but yes I preferred the F208 (obviously).

My old Marantz 7007 setup would virtualize the signal between the fronts and surrounds and the wides were quite active, but since my install of the RMC-1 they have been conspicuously quiet.
My speaker setup includes the following: Def Tech BP2002TL Tower Main Fronts Def Tech Mythos 10 2nd Fronts and Center surrounding TV Def Tech Pro Monitor 800 for Front Wides, Front Tops, Rear Surrounds, Rear Tops Magnepan MC1 Surrounds Dual Bic America F12 Subs
I just got the new Tears for Fears BluRay "The Tipping Point" with a Steven Wilson Atmos mix (and 5.1 mix) and I am really appreciating a properly executed Atmos implementation...

I think that Wides are another 'Waiting for Godot' situation. Wides should have been two of the bed channels in 5.1, or the newest bed channels in 7.1. Instead, Wides are an object channel afterthought. The industry was so eager to put sound behind and above that they forgot we listen mostly to what we can see.
For over a year, I set up my system with the Surrounds at 60 deg and the Backs at 120deg. This works well with most of the movies I have. It also still meets ITU specs. Floyd Toole mentions that he did something similar with his layout. It doesn't work as well with 5.1 music. For 5.1 music, I moved the Surround out connections to the Back amp input connections. This works well but would be nice as a RMC preset function. A small patch bay would work too.

I don’t know what to think anymore regarding this, but I AM happy somebody out there recalls “Waiting For Godot”! Back in college my drama 🎭 professor performed it as a dramatic monologue and did one Hell of a job with it. Steadier gig than an acting career I suppose.

I think the movie industry is just leading again with the money cart before the horse. They want us to build it. Then, they will decide if they will come.

We are caught up in this relentless assembly line of mediocre film where the main purpose is to produce films that capitalize on the latest technology, rather than focusing on the talents of the actors, and the quality of the story content of the film itself. Not to be too jaded, I love all the toys, and I have taken a very serious approach to all of that, but the reality is only a couple of films per year come down the pike that are worthwhile adding to the collection. It’s always been that way really, when it comes to outstanding film.

“List of Atmos movies that use front Wides“
The OP fell off the radar over two and a half years ago….. I guess he never heard from his front wides?
