During my 14 day Covid19 self isolation I decided to find some uplifting music videos on YouTube. I have a simple setup consisting of a good quality 55” Samsung 7000 series SmartTV, my newly acquired PT-100 , 2- Yamaha HS-7 powered monitors and a powered Paradigm sub. The reason I bought the PT-100 was because it has a tuner, optical in, pre-outs and sub out at a very reasonable price. I run the TV optical out into the PT-100 and the PT-100 pre outs and the sub out directly into the Yamaha’s and Paradigm and have found the sound quality to be exceptionally good, especially on vocals.I am old school (I leave CBC radio on all day) and in the past I owned an Advent 300 receiver with pre outs that I ran into a home built stereo tri-amp (6 mono amps)...sadly at the time the electronic crossovers available were too noisy....but I always loved that little receiver with pre-outs. On YouTube I have discovered a wealth of high quality music video’s (especially the VEVO’s)...some suggestions during these strange days: “Andrea Bocelli duets with female artists” and “Choirs covering Pop music”....regards....Jerry

YouTube CAN be (even the free version) a mind blowing experience for music. I kick back with my iPhone and use it to communicate with my Sony Ultra (4K up converting) not true 4K player. With my big system all dialed in, just browse on the phone for any performance I choose (I usually add “HD” to that search to narrow those results to the best audio. I have some favorites that blow me right out of the chair. The fidelity of many of those rival some of the finest recordings I have ever heard. Bill

Hi Bill,
Looks like a high end system. Don’t know what music you’re into, but if you like female vocals checkout YouTube/Adele at Church Studios/When We Were Young Cheers!...Jerry

I think the PT100 is ideal anytime. The most ready to go product Emotiva makes that is for everyone to enjoy. YouTube has much to offer. Like anything else there is dubious and waste of bandwidth content out there too, but you get it all. I am on YouTube frequently and find many musical gems that get me more curious to help build my collection. Much of my musical pleasure is at least researched if not fully realized on YouTube along with Spotify and Tidal and so on. So sure the PT100 should be a major hit for you!

The only thing I part company with is having a built in tuner in the processor. (Any processor) I have the XMC and wish it wasn’t there either. Where I live, multi path interference is a death sentence and I live practically underneath our Local Bubble gum FM station broadcast antenna. The XMC is beautifully quiet, but I was getting WHUD bleed over thru my old Sunfire.....very faint but you could hear it ever so slight if you were right next to a speaker. Bill

Yep I hear you Bill. Does anyone even listen to FM anymore? I lived in an RF challenged place too in LA. I was already just getting content from the Net even back then. As I do now. Would be cool to have the option of no tuner if you didn't want it. Also with all the stuff now web based is the Tuner soon to be eliminated anyway.

I still have a Phase Linear 5000 tuner in storage that I bought a mere 42 years ago, when FM was still a serious source. I was also 32 miles closer to NYC back then. When I got up here, I put a dedicated FM antenna (with a rotor) on the roof. With that I could pull Jazz in from Connecticut. Then I bought a new house right down the road. The half mile killed all remaining recepton. Bill
