Hi Guys,
So I have 3 XPA-100s, gen 2 and 1 XPA-200 gen 1. I am not using the 100s currently and they still have warranty until September. The 200 is being used for rears, but could be replaced with a mini-x, which Is fine.
Question, should I sell all together as a 5 channel solution, to get the best value?
I’m pretty sure I could sell the 200, on its own, but perhaps I have to offer all three 100s? Not sure if people are really looking for a single unit there.
Ideally, I would keep 2 100s and have a solid back up for my XPA-1Ls, one of which I did recently service. Those power my Magnepan.7s in a second location. But I’m open to selling all if that’s best.
The problem here of course is the shipping, and if we are talking ebay, fees dig in too. I have checked prices and it looks like 3 100s have gone for $750, once and the last single unit was $270 with free shipping. Coast to coast shipping could be as high as $80, so in this example, I’d get $163 for it.
Maybe these are too valuable to sell? I’ve always loved the tiffany connections and the balanced connections with clips, and the solid speaker binding posts.
I created this mess when I tried the PA-1s and haven’t looked back!

I see they don't have the clips on the balanced connections, but they are still really nice to have. Definitely prefer using them when possible.

I sold my two XPA-100 Gen1's about 4 years back for $600 CAD local so didn't have to deal with shipping, I see on Canuck Audio Mart a guy is asking $650 for one XPA-100 which IMO is a bit much like double what he should be asking but with prices having gone up on so many brands including Emotiva they seem to be worth a decent asking price. Remember I think the XPA-100 were $399 new shipped from Emotiva and sometimes on sale so $300 each seems reasonable I would have to guess with shipping included ?
Or like you mentioned just keep them if they have more value for you, I really don't understand what is going on as of late, I was trying to sell a 3 month old Outlaw 7000X for $1400 CAD plus shipping, cost was $1700 to my door, all I got was lowball offers so I took it down, yet I see 10 year old XPA-5 amps go up for sale for $1000 and the ad only lasts a few days yet mine had almost full warranty and 2 more channels, maybe older is now worth more than new ?? I have no clue anymore lol

I agree. There isn’t a product in the Emotiva lineup right now and maybe there won’t be. I guess the BasX 300 is comparable to a XPA-200, but once you look them over and certainly inside, I’d much prefer the XPA. But, yes it’s older and no warranty. These amps are from what I think were the good old days, you could have really heavy equipment at awesome prices. Also the nice thing about them was the 2ru size, which for me was all I could fit, I’m still using the same rack. The advantages over the UPAs were a little more power? I sensed a bit more strength and zip in comparison, and of course you got the nice connections.
When I look around to see what is available in this power output, with balanced in, I don’t even know what I can compare to and certainly not close in price.
I used to think that if you had the essentials, big transformer, large capacitance, big fanless heatsinks, etc. that you had to be getting great sound, and that was largely the case, but the PA-1 came along and changed everything, at least from that perspective, which makes it even harder figure out what to do/ how to price if I sell.
Maybe I just put them all up on ebay for $1k no shipping, and see. They make an awesome stack!

So true! I took some pictures of it, as I have it on Craigslist, and it's just sitting here begging me not to turn it into an orphan! So maybe this is a plan: Keep the XPA-200 right where it is, out of sight and in use (rears). It doesn't matter if it is big or small when you can't see it. Next, keep 2 XPA-100s for a very nice backup, ready to take over nicely in my 2 listening locations. Then, keep my extra XPA-100 (was a center) as a single back-up to my back-ups. Sound like a plan?

So you talked yourself into where you are already now? You are a born planner and should go into the government.

The general rule is that something is 'worth' only what someone will PAY for it.
The idea that something has 'worth' is an agreed upon concept and not in any way intrinsic to the 'thing' in question.
Sell 'em while they still have ANY value and bank the cash or convert to something you need or want.
