Hi all, yes I still hear some cassettes, most of them I recorded myself, still have a 3Head Sony deck, looking to get a good Demagnetizer, cleaner, anyone knows of any, not expensive...

Thanks, I have plenty of long swabs from a kit I had, the Demagnetizer stopped working because the battery died, don't make them any more, it was an old kit, maybe 30 years...

Yes! I had a Demag pretty much identical to that. Sort of felt like a Magician 🎩 when putting it to use! After the act, I just hoped it was doing what it was supposed to. If I remember correctly, your results could be the opposite of what you were after if you did it wrong. Bill

The technique is very simple. Not dissimilar to degaussing the TV screens of the day before built in degaussing was common. Head demagnetizing is so easy and yet important to maintain good high frequency response. Many don't get tape at all. That is cool. Most of my stuff is digital sure. Absolutely 💯. But my analog arsenal is well represented too. I think at this time a better mix than I had years past. But maintenance is easy on tape machines. More robust than vinyl. Most of the great classics were done on tape. Johnny Cash son uses an Ampex ATR 102 2 track reel to reel for that analog feel his clients want while they record at the Cash Cabin. Yep, I do get around. I felt Johnny's presence when I was there. Actually June's too as she really motivated Johnny. I don't think I will ever fully leave tape. Been using since I was 5 years old.

I had a lot of cassettes stolen, originals, and also good recordings from vinyl back in the days, made with an awesome Akai deck, still have some recordings made from vinyl to the current Sony deck, and a number of recordings from CDs to the Sony, when I got home today I played one cassette I know sounds just like a cd, it still does, I will hold off on getting the Demagnetizer and cleaner until I go through each cassette, I forgot a few years ago when I had the belt replaced they cleaned the deck real well and Demagnetized, since then I have not played many tapes, I know eventually I will get the Demagnetizer and the cleaning solution...I checked your recommended items, saved them in my Amazon cart....
