Early last week I ordered for my son's apartment a TA-100 plus a pair of T1's and Cathy handled my order and shipping details extremely professionally (not that I expected otherwise). They arrived on Wednesday, which is pretty fast from Nashville to Melbourne Australia, in perfect condition with the usual Emotiva double boxing ensuring that. I knew he would want to set it up and listen to the music as soon as it arrived, impatience is his middle name. So in preparation late last week, I boxed up and sent him (it's 1000k's from Sydney to Melbourne) a set of cables, toslink, digital coax, twin RCA interconnects, an Aussie spec power cord and a pair of speaker cables that I made to the appropriate lengths.
It's a relatively small apartment, with the T1's set up either side the MY2020 Samsung S8 65" TV, with the TA-100 situated in a TV stand/rack below. The input is via toslink (no digital coax output from the Samsung) from the TV to the TA-100. The inbuilt radio and all of the FTA TV channels worked at start up but he had to do a bit of juggling of the Samung's output settings for Netflix, Prime etc. They default to DD5.1 whilst the TA-100 requires stereo input, a quick fix once he worked out what was happening.
Sound quality wise, obviously my son is used to my systems over the years, his comments were "it sounds amazing, so clear" and he really likes the " no stress" air motion tweeters. Overall he is extremely happy, while still doing some minor fine tuning of the T1's positioning. For someone with a small room, house or apartment and a limited budget he reckons the TA-100 and T1's combination is unbeatable value for money.
Next step, my guess will be a sub woofer, his other middle name is bass, when the budget recovers.
Cheers
Gary
