AES/EBU output for HIFI & Analog output for HC ?

Hello EMOTIVA fans,

i've an XMC1 used for HC & HIFI.
I would like to use my 2 main speakers in Reference Audio mode for HIFI with following stuff:
- raspberry pi with AES/EBU output connected to AES/EBU XMC1 input then using the AES/EBU output of the XMC1 to AES/EBU input of the Behringer DCX2496 feeding to 2 power amp my JBL XPL200 speakers
And i would like to use the XMC1 also for HC in 5.1 mode where
-inputs come mostly via HDMI and then get out via XLR to rear speakers , central speaker & Subwoofer but also still via AES/EBU to the DCX2496 then to the 2 main front speakers.

Is such "hybrid" config works?
is there any particular thing to setup?

In the meantime i've replaced the DCX2496 by a minidsp, so far sound results are similar.
still wondering if the hybrid config could work.

Sounds good to me. I do the same thing for my AV editing. Works great.

The XMC-1 has a AES/EBU output ?? mine has an input but no digital AES/EBU output, are you meaning the analog XLR out puts for wiring up your amps.
