Count me in this group. I have been watching these forums waiting for a update that they were shipping. I was assuming they would have shipped by now if it wasn't for COVID. Me too. It's ready to ship and we are starting to ship it to the beta testers is something completely different. Considering the fact, that a lot of bugs were found by users and not by emotiva I guess it can't be expected that this beta test will go smoothly. And if the beta testers will find bugs ( which I think is 100% certain) the release of Dirac is somewhere in the not so near future. I have to agree here. If they would have told us about it going out to beta testers whenever they announced the black boxes I think that would have been easier to understand. Just sucks that we were lead to believe that it was basically ready to go pending making enough boxes and shipping them out. By the same token Emotiva does tell us a lot more about what's going on with their products than other people, and I don't want them to become super tight lip about things, just want to have realistic expectations.

Dirac kits going to field beta testers this week. Almost there! Lonnie Perhabs you should clarify what is almost there? The summer? Almost three month ago you posted "Dirac Live - Success At Last", so not so sure what "almost there" means.

If you will recall, some of us directly asked if this was out to beta testers back when we were "close". The question was avoided. It would have been nice to have had proper expectations set, I agree. I for one have postponed any PEQ items since then thinking we were really close. One has to assume a week for testers to get the gear, and a month at minimum for testing. We'll be lucky to see Dirac by August. Maybe during this time, Dirac 3.0, with DBC, will be supported by their code.

It's like anything in this HDMI world, how will the RMC play with all of these various devices while running the Dirac firmware. Emotiva can only in house test so many combos so beta testing is needed to get more combinations of devices running. In theory I would think Dirac does not care at all about what devices are hooked up to the RMC, but based on past RMC experiences I would guess some devices do not play nice with the Dirac code. All we can do is hope that the beta goes fairly well and then they can release the boxes into the masses. Based on this I do kinda agree that best case is August for it to go live.

We don't actually know if they have enough to ship to everyone, many in the beta group may be early adopters, and would have gotten the first batch anyway. If these units are in 'production' state, and the beta group is successful, it might not be that long until more are shipped.

I received my RMC-1L Saturday and set it up yesterday. My RMC-1L did arrive with the new 1.10 firmware already installed. So, fast forwarding from the point at which I threw in the towel with my XMC-1 (13 months after the arrival of the v3 upgrade… and I’ve long since forgotten the last firmware that I used), this is a HUGE improvement..! While setup went very well, I can easily confirm that I also experience " reduced volume" whenever DTS Neural:X is used. My speaker layout is a common 7.2.4 using “top” height channels (in-ceiling) with “back surrounds”. My RMC-1L is configured exactly that way. I did notice that the default XO for “Tops” is 250 Hz, which I dropped back to 80 Hz. I do not experience the “smearing” that others have mentioned. Actually, the surround effects were similar to what I experienced when my AV8805 was in charge. However, the 8805 did maintain the same relative volume regardless of the upmixer being used. My experience wasn’t horrible, but it is noticeable and. IMO, should be looked into. FWIW, I used the “Bloodshot” blu-ray disc as a test sample since it contains only a DTS-HD MA 5.1 mix. I have not tried a factory reset (as hsamwel suggests) simply because I have not had enough time to complete the entire setup process and back up my settings, but I will indeed try this to see if it corrects the issue. One thing that I did fear was reliable connectivity to my TiVo 4K Mini. Luckily, it synced right up without issue. I do have it set to output 1080p/60 using Dolby Digital audio and do not use it as a streaming device. I watched about an hour of TV programming switching channels many times and both audio and video locked consistently the entire time. I did not pause, fast-forward or rewind, so the jury remains out, but so far, no issues with "my" TiVo. One thing that I did notice is that “Video Remains On” is now the default power selection. What is the consensus on that..? Does it seem to better maintain the EDID handshake or is a “Lowest Power” reboot still the better option for most of you (as it was with my XMC-1)…? I plan to do more with it tonight, but after "day one", I’m very pleased…

Dirac kits going to field beta testers this week. Almost there! Lonnie Is the new Dirac 3.0.0 Software compatible with the RMC-1? Yes. There is only ever one current version of the general release Dirac Live software. 2.x.x are no longer available for download.

I think we were led to believe that the rollout to customers was imminent and waiting just on big brown boxes to ship the little black boxes. In fact I am sure we were mislead into believing that! I assumed that the beta testing was done, not beginning. I was hoping to be using the ongoing social restrictions to play with Dirac. Now I will just have to test if hsamwel's theory yesterday about the poor functioning dts being linked to it being hard coded to 7.1.4 tops matching up with my theory about the speaker configuration flags not getting transferred correctly to the Neural:X, causing the volume loss to be do to sound being extracted to non-existent speakers (I don't have any ceiling speakers) I'm glad someone else said this. I will say I felt I was led to believe they were just awaiting boxes so they could ship. Now, how long ago was that? I assumed beta testing was well under way because how could you be as close as you say you were without beta testing??? I'll stay off the soap box on this one, but yeah... We've been beta testing in house for quite some time now, that is no secret. We now believe it is a finished product and are looking for feedback from the field to confirm this. The final piece of hardware showed up on Thursday of last week. Production is being arranged to assemble the kits and at that point we will be ready for them to ship. Lonnie

Will you be reconfirming addresses prior to shipping to other owners? I've moved since purchasing my RMC-1 and I'm sure that others are in the same situation. Tim If you have an account, I’d log in and edit your address to your new one. I’m guessing, but I’d think that would be their source for current customer addresses. Maybe Keith or Hair Nick could confirm this one way or the other. I would if I could. I just tried Safari and Firefox. Neither web browser offered the ability to edit or add new addresses. You click the respective buttons and something pops up completely off screen... Tim

Lonnie Thank you for the communication Lonnie. I know we all appreciate a little more clear guidance on this. With all due respect, I think the bulk of us that express frustration, or concern, just want proper expectations set. Looking forward to hearing how this goes and how this "Dirac 3.x", with DBC, situation plays out.

So does this mean the Emotiva RMC-1 will work with the bass management add on from the day we get the kits?

Dirac kits going to field beta testers this week. Almost there! Lonnie Congratulations! This is my last step to upgrade from the XMC-1. I'm not near as technical as most folks on this forum so I want to set and forget. How long is the field test scheduled to run?

What are the odds of beta testing going without a hitch? If it doesn't, time frame for a re do, and then another vetting process, etc?

You did go to Emotiva.com to sign in, right I just used Safari and like geebo, I deleted one address the shipping companies don't like - they don't like the word "Road" spelled out, they like "Rd". Bottom line, it was a good excuse to clear out some dead wood. Under Account it will list items purchased in the past and "Manage Addresses" will be on the lower right, just under where it says "Store Credit ($0.00 USD)".
