Wow, after reading specifications of the Anthem AVM90 our RMC-1 is getting long in the tooth. I have placed my order for an AVM 90 to save my place in line. There is a long time waiting for the orders to be fulfilled. Emotiva still has time to make things right with the RMC before my order goes through with the Anthem. Will see which one comes in first.
Here in switzerland - its a 90-120 days Delay on delivery - and the price is CHF 7490 - which is 2k more than the RMC-1 was.
And to re-Sell the RMC-1 will force me to invest another 4-5 grand. Not what I had planned - Just ordered new Speakers.
Each of us has different needs.
What I would miss in the AVM90 are the XLR IN (plus the XLR Extra Board i bought some time ago).
According the specs - I don't see much difference between the Emotiva promised stuff (HDMI 2.1 Board, new FW with extra Features like IMAX, DTS.X Pro, new Dolby Specs etc) and the AVM90. Maybe the 4 Subs would be of interest, but I actually don't use one, and do not plan to do so.
Wait and see - it's part of the game, that high gloss papers do a lot of promises, as we all know.

Thank you, ordered very similar looking extender (cant order bafx in my country). This looks exactly like my BAFX, so it's probably the same thing but different name.

Is there some reason you are not using it? That would probably be my next choice in line or maybe the JBL SDP-55 if I could find a good deal on it. Have had issues with the boot loop problem a couple of times but the main reason is that Monoprice seems to have stopped support the HTP. At least they have not come out with any firmware updates in quite a long time (sound familiar) and some question about whether some promised features will be provided in the future. It sounds great and is very flexible but I just wanted to try something else. The dealer I am buying from offers a 2 month return policy so gives me plenty of time to use it and make a final decision.

At least they have not come out with any firmware updates in quite a long time The only remaining firmware issue seems to be the "boot loop" problem which they believe they have fixed. That sort of intermittent problem can be a pain to try and solve. What is it that you are waiting on a firmware update for? Thanks. Frederick

Frederick Hi Frederick, The main thing that folks are waiting for seems to be DTS:X Pro. I believe it was a promised feature and it is being worked on but right now seems to be on the back burner. Plus any other improvements and/or upgrades that can be made as the life cycle of the unit progresses. Just like Emotiva will be making improvements as their products go forward. I must admit that the Anthem is more of an impulse buy than something I really need. It would be the highest level (price wise anyway) processor I have ever had. To be honest, if there was not such a long wait to get one, I would probably not have ordered one. Because of the wait I can be in a better financial position later on than now. Also, because of the 2 months trial period when first received, it gives me a chance to try it out and decide if it is worth all that extra money. The Anthem is definitely at my upper limit financially. On last reason is how great everyone is saying it sounds for music. I do play a lot of music while roaming the net so wanted to hear for myself. Hope that makes some sense. What it mainly boils down to is that I just wanted to give the AVM 90 a try. Take care, Steve EDIT: Just thought I would add that my RMC-1 is more of an impulse buy than a must need item. I doubt that I will ever need or use all of the features that it will hopefully have one day. I went form UMC-200 (believe that is correct) to an XMC-1. From the XMC-1 I should have gone to the XMC-2 if I was being honest. But the "what if" factor got me. I would have always wondered if I would have been better off with a higher unit. Because of the trade in I got, I was able to go all the way with the RMC-1. I do not regret that decision. But I must admit I am getting a bit put-off by the issues it is still having after such a long time. Several years now. Nothing major on my part, but just little things that should in my opinion not be there, Ok that is it from me. Taken up enough of time with my sob story. Best regards to all.

Take care, Steve Thanks for the feedback. I was under the impression that code for things like DTS were developed and licensed by DTS themselves or someone they contracted to do the work. If each AVR/AVP maker had to re-invent the wheel for Dolby, DTS, Auro, etc that would really be inefficient. I was going to get a RMC-1L but after reading here decided not to - at least for now. I also had a AVM 60 on order and was told it was almost ready to ship but I decided not to given it's limitations. And I value my limbs too much to try and justify a 90 just for better sub-woofer support - the wife would toss me in the nearest dumpster. I no longer listen to music on AV gear so the other features of the 90 are of no value to me. I obtained a B-stock HTP-1 and that is working well for me. I will continue to watch Emotiva to see how they progress. Frederick

When using the IR wired input on the back of the processor, you must disable the Front IR In. If it's not disabled, there will be doubled commands or disregarded commands. I also disable the Front IR Blaster as it's not needed and I don't want any conflicts. Thank you for posting that! I wasn’t aware of those parameters causing a conflict, and I’ve been using the wired IR input on my RMC-1 for several weeks now.

If I had a dedicated theater room, that would be different. Maybe one of these days. Even my RMC-1 and HTP-1 are overkill in the area they are used. But their costs make a heck of a lot more sense. So, I will continue to wait for Emotiva to come up with new firmware and go from there. Regards to all.

Well, perhaps we are in for a surprise come Monday. This was just posted on April 15....Dirac Live 3 and a Redux at that, clocking in at 33 minutes. Are those rays of sunshine peaking over the horizon? www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVrjMFFjQq0&t=26sThey did a nice job for the novice folks since Dirac is not the most intuitive along with giving some tips that are in line with other processors. I think Emotiva is realizing that they need to help the users a little more but I don’t think this has anything to do with new firmware releases. Yep, I was leaning on wishful thinking instead of waiting on soon. Yet another letdown. Come on folks, Dan, Keith, Lonnie, Nick, throw us a bone, you more than owe it to your customers...and in a way, more so to your potential customers.

Its sound thinking [sorry about that quip] to consider the time lag between ce's on promised upgrades as you say . I would look at the anthem avm70 as having the same sound signature even with its lesser dacs [the 70 dacs are superior to the avr models] And the power amps are more important than the pre pro when it comes to sound Have you considered an add on mini dsp for your l/r +lfe subs ? But if you dont like to wait [and your a gamer] you wont be waiting long I suspect..

The AVM 70 definitely makes more sense for my situation, if I want to go in that direction. I have thought about getting mini dsp but not in a big hurry. Even though it may not sound like it from my previous posts, I am not in a big hurry. I can wait and see how the Emotiva firmware update goes.
Take care.

Except I sold my XMC1 a year before I bought my XMC2 in anticipation that they were going to release it sooner so the RMC1 was never in the cards…maybe the RMC1L but that came out after the XMC2. No hurry especially since we waited this long. Still need to rerun Dirac but that ordeal is so painful 😖.

I have pretty much decided that before spending any more on processors, that I will wait and see what the new firmware will bring to the show. At least I hope I can wait. Tonight, while watching a recording of a tv show with the RMC on, at one point when fast forwarding got a terrible noise from my speakers. Luckily it was not loud enough to damage the speakers but sure did not sound good. It has happened before and been reported but nothing came of it. If they can't reproduce the problem, it is hard for them to fix.
One of these days I may be pleasantly surprised and see that the new firmware is available. Not only will I be surprised I might have a heart attack! I wish Emo could provide us with some sort of information.
Regards

I just have to deal with a Dirac run that ended up sounding a bit thin.

I did a great deal of research trying to decide what AVP to purchase and concluded the HTP-1 was very good a value, in terms of $ per feature, so to speak. Thanks. Frederick

So I went from Dirac that sounded a bit thin to a Dirac calibration where the balance is amazing bass to treble….but now the imaging is off to the left. Arrrgh! EDIT: Well third time was a charm. Finally got a good Dirac run!!! The Dirac Live 3.3.0 has a “new algorithm that tailors the curve to your room and sound system”. It’s definitely something worth giving a try to…and I didn’t change the suggested curves, it did tame the +20 dB boost at 20 Hz from my left Salon2 down to +11.5 dB.

At least that has always been the way I resolved the issue.

Frederick Main reason was I thought for sure the new firmware from Emo would be out soon so wanted my unit in use when it did. That has not worked out to good has it. The HTP-1 is an excellent processor but I had recently been getting that "boot loop" issue. Once you know how to fix it, it doesn't take long to correct but it can be bothersome. And just like the RMC, the unit should not be suffering issues like this after such a long period of being in the real world. Regards.

Besides the horrendous buzzing sound I got while fast forwarding and then playing the recording (its a go and stop issues if you know what I mean), I also lost all audio from all sources later last night. I first watched a blue ray movie that was in Dolby Digital with no problem. I then went to play a Dolby Atmos movie (Sing 2). The audio for the Main Menu went ok, then played the movie. The audio was supposed to be Dolby Atmos but it started playing in PCM 7.1 (screen display). I then went into the Main Menu again and went to the Setup section and for Audio picked Dolby Atmos. When I resumed the movie, there was no sound. All indications seemed to be showing that audio and video were being received but no audio was coming out. No matter what source I chose there was no audio. No tv or AppleTV audio. I finally fixed it by powering the unit down to lowest power, waited a few minutes, then restarted the RMC. The audio then worked as it should again.
Sorry for the long winded explanation above but just wanted to try and explain as best I could what happened. All is working fine this morning.
By the way, Sing 2 (and for me Sing as well) are fun movies with excellent audio. I especially noticed how good Sing 2 sounded last night when I got it working right.
Take care.

So doing that and having the low mic positions not low enough seems to have done it.
