Why we jumping to 3.0 then if a major rewrite is underway? Emo’s entire process from the outset has me scratching my head. I bought an RMC-1 and planned my theater build around their promised channel expansion cards. Instead I’ve dealt with HDMI lock issues and blue screens, gnarly random pops and digital ghosting sounds, and more since release. At least they delivered their Dirac promise?

Problem is, quite a bit was promised from the outset. Like DSD over USB for example. Though I'd be happy to be able to play Blu-Rays again. Speaking specifically about 3.0, in terms of expectations. Yes, lots of other stuff has been promised and we know there's a 4.0 coming. But the semi-leaked notes for 3.0 only mentioned the eARC/ARC/HDMI stuff. The time for making excuses for lack of stability with core functions is over. 3.0, 4.0, 5.0,,, yadayadayada.

I wish you'd never have mentioned that. I don't think I'll be alive when 4.0 comes around. I think Climate Change will take us all before then. I'd just be happy to watch a few BluRays before everything catches on fire. Maybe 3.0 is enough.

If 3.0 is watered down, like some expect, then it should really be called 2.6 in following with the MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH numbering scheme

I don’t really care about version numbers…who knows what the logic was behind it. When is imminent? Is there a new meaning for this word that I’m unaware of? 😜

We are all aware that we need to start learning lines and beginning dress rehearsals for the inevitable... There is blind faith, and then there is hopelessness and 379 pages=earned hopelessness Expectations .... all we should expect of 3.0 is the HDMI/eARC/ARC stuff that has been talked about. Nothing else. And hopefully no new surprise bugs. If there's more than that? Gravy ... Wait, didn't they just say ARC, not eARC? eARC would be quite the surprise.

Rather depressing when you look at all the Denon/Marantz etc with it .Whats the odds of an Emo hdmi card swap over scheme for those who need it ? That would be good pr

The 8k, 4k/120 and other ”gaming” features I’m also not in need of. But if I’m not mistaken there’s some fast screen mode switching feature in the HDMI 2.1 that’s nice för HT as well. Would remove the black screen in AppleTV when switching back and forth with match content features on. But I guess it will not be enough to have AppleTV 4k gen2 and the the new HDMI 2.1 board. I would have to get a new TV supporting this also..

I’m just glad that Emotiva has taken the step to be more active in the forums.. This is a big step in the right direction!
I’m also hoping for a faster reaction time for communication regarding bugs and actually implmenting fixes. But for this to happpen they need to let go of the ”big firmware only” policy they have now. I like how they reacted on the ASR reported issue.. I think they fixed the issue in a week or so..
IMO most people would appriciate small fixes for their issues rather than wait 3-12months for a possible fix that may or may not fix their issue. If not then another 3-12 month cycle. Would be nice if Emotiva could communicate in advance which bug/issue they are currently working on and then release a point fix for that single bug/issue. I guess I just want too much..

I have been following this discussion closely for several weeks now. Will this mystical firmware version 3.0 possibly be released in 2022. I know they say it is "close", but I have heard that before and yet here we are discussing it for weeks.

Or maybe just be honest and call it 3.0 beta Just like the current 2.3 beta firmware that we are all using and every previous official release (that have each actually been a "not quite working beta" ever since these processors came to market) Pointedly, I am referring to core functions that have let us down repeatedly on firmware releases, such as the ongoing bass management disgrace, not Dirac Live or pushing channels above 7.1.6 or modular streamers. Is is already announced and known to be a fact that 3.0 is flawed and will not make our processors fit for purpose even before it is released.

After all, it starts with infinite bugs and zero functionality. In the end, a given version is either releasable or not releasable. The best we can hope for is steady progress forward and not backward.
