I don't have any details yet but there will definitely be "favorable upgrade options"... Hopefully eARC will successfully do everything, everywhere, for everyone... Yes, it sounds great.. But what about the customers, who are living outside of USA? E.g. in Europe, like me? Or are you schedule to provide cost-free eARC or discounted HDMI 2.1 hardware retrofit (new board) for existing customer? It means: the similar way, like your DIRAC hardware update in the past? PS: From my point of view, a bug-free ARC functionality is enough for numerous scenarios. View Attachment

A LOT depends on your room. Also, as I mentioned, a lot depends on your "listening situation". For example, that solid phantom center will tend to shift if you walk back and forth from left to right... And, if you have several people, seated side by side, or don't always sit in the center, a center channel speaker will "help keep it pinned to the center". Likewise, more speakers will help ensure that you get a more consistent sound stage over a wider listening area. However, if you have a reasonably good room, and you tend to sit in the center, then you absolutely don't need a lot of speakers. Is going from 4 to 6 heights worth it in your opinion? Or front wides are considered to be better? Or neither are really worth it? I agree that it depends on your room and setup. When listening to stereo music, I am often convinced that sound is coming out of my centre speaker and, due to the XMC-2 not always doing what it is meant to do, I get up and see if this is the case. Almost always, it is just the incredibly good phantom centre image being generated by the L&R stereo speakers. The point of this is that if a phantom stereo can be so lifelike and convincing, I begin to wonder whether more than 7 bed channels is ever going to be worth it??? I suspect it is chasing an irrelevant holy grail for any situation other than a perfect listening room.

"Favorable upgrade options...."
Personally, I'd like the addition of a milk frother. Because at this rate, wishing for a milk frother would be as hopeful as being able to play a BluRay without half an hour of faffing around.
Don't tell me..... sometime early in 2023 I'll be able to purchase an upgraded HDMI 2.1 board just as the HDMI v3 standard drops, making my upgraded 2020 RMC1-L perform as expected on purchase yet still not as current as a $1K unit from Marantz. In the interim, the perpetual "two weeks away" firmware dangles in front of me like a carrot of hope, delusion or derangement, depending on the day.
Got out of the wrong side of the bed. Sorry about the grumpy moaning.

It`s not allways the processors fault. Main reason at my system is, that I have connected a projector and a TV and . A friend has similar problems but is using a Lexikon pre..... Markus

I keep looking on this thread for useful info or updates on firmware etc, but it always seems to be people trying to resolve or moan about issues. I have to say that I have zero issues with my XMC-2. I have a projector setup with APTV 4K and an Oppo203 in 5.1. So I suppose a lot simpler than a lot of people out there. I recently added a HDFury for LL Dolby Vision and had no issues.
I have no handshake issues, no lock ups, no pops, no sound dropping etc, and I am on latest firmware. My Subs are in a Dual mono setup so I think I'm not affected by the sub channel bug. I've fared well since my first UMC-1 pre/pro and then my XMC-1. Although the latter had a power board fault that was sorted in a jiffy by Emotiva sending a board super quick to the UK.
I have had their XPA-5 amp for around 12 years with no issues too. I think it's a Gen 1 (silver trims) and it's still going strong.
Though, I appreciate that when there are issues with any component it can be irritating. Do remember Emo Amps and Pre-Pro's are excellent, and for the price there's nothing close

More wine please....

If everything was working as it should, why did you drop $500 on an HDFury. I thought the Emotiva RMC-1 / XMC-2 were Dolby Vision compliant?

I wondered the same thing, I have the same components (Oppo 203, TV4K, and others), and fortunately don't have to go through any gyrations to get them to work normally -- going through the RMC. As always I wonder if people are using VRO or LPS as (IMO) using LPS is the first place to start when troubleshooting.

If I’m not mistaken, low latency Dolby Vision can be processed from HDR 10 content using the HDFury Vertex2 processing. An extremely cool feature for projector owners.

However, LLDV can be sent from the source device and then ported through to the projector using an HDFury Vertex. The Vertex will automatically trigger the projector's HDR-10 mode when an LLDV signal is detected. Pretty slick...

From what I have read the main difference between Dolby Vision and HDR-10 is that Dolby Vision is 12bit where HDR-10 is 10bit, and that Dolby Vision has dynamic image processing, where HDR-10 is static. OK. I don't like dynamic processing. It's not a true reflection of the source material, in the same way that motion smoothing is not accurate either. Dolby Vision produces an image that is geared toward an algorithm based image "enhancer" where HDR-10 is static and remains as accurate as it can be. On top of this, there are no 12 bit displays. I regularly use a 31" monitor in my work made by Sony called a BVM-HX310. It's a $45,000 monitor, considered on of the most accurate in the world when dealing with 12G, dual link SDI REC2020 material, and that is 10bit. It's a beast of a thing but when it comes to image evaluation and picture grading, it's peerless. So I don't really understand, from a professional perspective why an HDFury box to access 12bit into a 10bit monitor would introduce anything but interpolation. Maybe I'm missing something. Educate me. pro.sony/ue_US/products/broadcastpromonitors/bvm-hx310

What did you use before? Never heard Magicos, but I heard about them I had the Revel Performa3 F-208/C-208. Still use Revel F-206 as Surround.

I'm just suspicious of "enhancement". I prefer accuracy to the filmmakers intent as a principal over what makes my monitor or projectors appear more "immersive" or "engaging" as the advertising suggests.
