Just got the new Apple TV 4K and set up my apps and verified everything works ... Atmos, etc. Pleased to report the snaps and pops from the processor work equally well with this new model  I've just gotten an Nvidia Shield Pro and there are no snaps and pops. I don't get them from the Xfinity X1 box either. I did get them from my TV when streaming using ARC. Is this a known issue with Apple TV? I'm kinda glad I went with the Shield Pro, I was choosing between the two. The Shield provides a mode that constantly sends an inaudible signal to keep the processor active using the current format. I believe that is what eliminates the pops and snaps. I don't have any snaps or pops with the ATV4K at all with my XMC-2. IMO the ATV is so good I don't even use my NVS anymore. |

… I also have faith that many more Tesla mega batteries will be sprouting up in Arizona Nevada and Texas as is happening now … I’d like to see a good mechanical battery come along, I’ve done some drawings, and have a next door neighbor who is truly a mechanical genius, but we’re both retired and sometimes enthusiasm for a very challenging project is hard to muster, plus I’ve seen some that seem close to fruition. Environmentally they are much friendlier, the only significant bi-product I can currently see is that inevitably they will make some noise, but I figure you get or make a big one and bury it (at least partially). |

My other sources are PC, OPPO205 and ARC from the TV. They never snap and pop. But I think there's something to your theory about the Shield's keeping the processor active. |

I was going along fine lately until I switched to an Apple TV4K. I now have HDMI switching issues that are so bad it is hard to stream anything. Netflix is the worst, but most days I have to do a hard restart every time I switch to the Apple TV. I changed cable to a FIBR certified fiber cable and that did not help at all. Anyone have any experience with this? Do I need to change a setting in the Apple box? You might want to try a CEC eliminator with the ATV. It eliminates pin 13 and can cure a lot of HDMI problems with certain streamers with the AppleTV being one of them. I use one with the gen1 ATV4K and with the Nvidia Shield 4K. When I was young, I never bothered to switch off the lights. Twenty years ago, I moved into a new apartment and carefully switched off the incandescent lights, to conserve. Ten years later, I switched to those little fluorescent screw-in lamps to conserve even more. Next I had LED lighting that is so efficient I don't worry about switching off the lights.
Now, some of my lighting is Phillips "Hue"; the bulbs have built-in processors and WIFI and can be programmed in all sorts of ways, even from my phone. In the future, I expect many appliances will become so efficient and intelligent, that conservation will be less of a concern.
In the winter, I don't worry about my EMO Amplifiers; I just let them heat the apartment (which has electric heat).

My XPA-1s would heat the living room in the winter months while I was living in California. Noticeable difference in temperature from the living room to other parts of the house. Since I've moved back to Georgia, I don't worry about energy costs as they are a fraction of California's. Though I do agree that ease of availability to LED lights definitely helps with the energy costs. We have them all over the house. |

I have an older ATV4K (Second Generation, I think) and use an HDFury Vrroom HDMI switch. I do get low level pops and clicks when surfing through the previews. On the bright side, the last two ATV updates have significantly reduced the HDMI resyncing when looking through the previews. When watching a movie, the playback and sound is smooth (no popping or clicking). My only complaint is that the sound quality is significantly worse than the sound from a DVD or BlueRay disk. "Atmos" movies (streaming) are better, but they still are below par...IMHO.

I have this ritual.
I get up in the morning, make a cup of tea, check my email, check to see if I have any software builds of my own that I need to bug-check, then I check to see if v3.0 has dropped.
Just checked a moment ago. Had a stack of screeners arrive that I need to plough through so I can vote in this years BAFTA awards. Hoping that my HDMI issues might be addressed before I get into it.

No not at all, it works, but in my experience it just tends to make it harder/longer to lock on to. This has everything to do with how the ATV handles varying video changes and not something the G3P’s are doing. When “match content” is “ON”, then the ATV is internally having to bounce between different video resolutions. When turned “OFF”, the ATV simply sets a fixed resolution. Personally I see very little, if any, difference at all whether the settings under “Match Content” are on or off. Your experience may differ so keep the settings on if that is your preference. |

Try it both ways and see what you like. |

Is there a 7.1.4 channel maximum on Xbox Series X? Although I have an RMC-1 in a 9.1.6 configuration, I never hear anything out of my front wides or top mids. I use my Xbox as my primary source for games, Blurays and streaming.

Very little will emanate from the Wides, or, will be very low volume. When I did this it was mostly just music. |

It’s not just AppleTV causing the ghosting digital sounds and pops/cracks. I get it using my PC (EVGA 3090) and occasionally my Shield TV.
I fired up my theater twice this weekend and it had loud snaps when I turned it on and a lower volume crackle when I shut it down both times. If 3.0 doesn’t fix that I might be out of here to be honest.
