Hi,
I have my Preset 2 set for 2 channel music. The main speakers are crossed over at 50Hz at 24dB to a pair of left and right mono subs. Only distance and levels are set. I have not set the PEQ, Loudness or tone controls, they are left at neutral.
When I play digital music I use Stereo mode. It sounds great with solid but neutral bass.
When I play analog from a turntable (via XPS-1) I use Reference Stereo.
Does Reference bypass the crossover in Preset 2 and send fullrange to my main speakers? I believe it does but I want to be sure.
Thanks, Dave.

Think of reference stereo as a straight wire directly from the input to the volume control and to the outputs. Mark

(However...if you do want a sub with reference stereo, I can show you a trick...)

Thanks for the replies.
I don't like using the subs with a turntable, I prefer fullrange to my speakers. They go down to 35Hz which is plenty.
My plan B was to change my crossover to 40Hz for stereo mode and leave the subs off. My subs blend it so well at 50Hz and I can now leave them there for digital music.
Cheers, Dave.

(However...if you do want a sub with reference stereo, I can show you a trick...) Mark Is it Direct mode? 😊 Direct mode does allow some bass-management, if I am not mistaken. I do not know about Mark's workaround, but when playing music in reference stereo mode, I have a headphone amp/pre amp linking/ interfacing my DAC (Yggy A2) and the XMC, send out L & R analog output signals to my 2 subs. Crossover settings are done on the Subs. There is no potentiometer action on the signal that passes through the Headphone Amp/Pre amp, so the XMC gets to do all the volume control.
