I recently ordered the S8 Flex subwoofer to use with my desktop system. I will be using with the following setup:
PC optical out
into
Emotiva XDA-2 DAC
into
Emotiva Fusion Flex Amplifier
into
Monitor Audio RX1 speakers
I usually run the Fusion Flex Amplifier and XDA-2 DAC at static volume levels and control volume via my PC due to the relative convenience of my keyboard volume controls vs what's available on the amp/dac.
I assume I'll just connect the Line Out of the DAC to the Subwoofer and on to the Amp. But given that there are a few different connection options offered with this subwoofer, I thought I would stop in to ask if there is a PREFERRED method to connect the equipment described above.
Thanks,

Not sure if the way I'm doing it is preferred or not, but I AM taking advantage of the built in crossover of the S8. Not sure if the Fusion Flex Amp has that for your desktop speakers?
Schiit Fulla DAC Input is via USB for my Microsoft surface and or the front microphone jack for iPhone
Pre-Amp out on the DAC to the S8 RCA input.
Crossover Out to my A-100 Stereo Flex Amp
Flex Amp to my B1+'s.
So if you want to use the built in crossover (which is a GREAT feature of this sub!), go: DAC / Sub In / Xover Out / Amp / Speakers
For volume, the choice is yours obviously. I do a little of both. Volume on the source, sometimes just the DAC.
For my current setup, the sub will turn on 1st, and the A-100 comes behind it about 3-4 seconds later. Sub and Amp are both in "Auto" mode.
