So I gave my spouse a budget for all the gear that I'm buying, and got approval. But I totally forgot to budget for just how much cable an extra 8 channels is going to take... and of course speaker stands/mounts, and connectors...
I'm already in trouble... How much more stuff have I forgotten I wonder?

Oh... I think this may have actually been a rhetorical question... but please feel free to wade in with your own horror stories

$115 for a 250' spool of 14/4 speaker wire (I twist two pair for a 11 gauge equivalent) $5-$8 each for Switchcraft XLR connectors $60 for a 500' spool of 22/2 shielded for XLR cables $16 for 20 RCA plugs if making XLR to RCA cables (remember - only 1 Hot and the Shield) $10 for solder $15 for a standard electrician's stripper/cutter (I never thought they would work very well, but they're the best!) This is my source for cables made the right way: Rane-Sound_System_Interconnection.pdf (411.6 KB) For XLR - XLR see Figure-1A For XLR - RCA see Figure-4B
