FWIW ... a video on the new Dirac curves feature .... Interesting.. But you still need to understand what you’re doing It makes the process a lot easier though.. I wouldn’t follow my speakers blindly like he did in the video. Was it +10dB in the bass region? He would have been better off toning down the bass somewhat.. The room seems to boost the bass a great deal.

OK sitting down to read this... and there's 175 pages. One hundred and seventy five. Sigh. So since I am lazy, is it safe for me to assume that all the knowledge and tweaking that has resulted from 175 pages of discussion has been propagated back into the first three posts on this thread?

Well I guess I should have read at least the first post before being so lazy, sigh: "I’m not claiming any Dirac high ground, but will do my best to keep the second post up to date with relevant resources, information and links"

I believe most of the links are up to date and work if you’re looking to get started … but there is a lot of excellent discussion, suggestions, answered questions, troubleshooting, etc, that can’t be condensed to a few links, it just has to be read. You might start some number of pages back (20?), or some amount of time (New Years?), and slowly work forward to get the jist of the discussion and current thinking.

I will do so. I did manage to run a test pass..... one position... didn't even bother to turn off my fans or HVAC... and I was in the room. I did this because the last time I tried, it not only crashed after 17 measurements... but the XMC-2 made a very loud SNAP sound so I was nervous about it. Anyway, I managed to get a run in, like I said, with one measurement... and WOW! The nasty room mode I had at 251hZ is GONE. Like, completely. I can now hear all the speakers ... it's like they all participate now. Sound stage is MUCH wider and all speakers have a more similar timbre. Unfortunately Dirac crashed before I could save the project but at least I managed to export the filters before that happened. But I have hope now.... this weekend I will do it again, and save the project along the way.... wish me luck!

JK? I suspect you are now 'into' the learning curve and will get progressively better at using the system.......

For next time... save the project right after you take the measurements... since that's the part that is the most work... (Then, even if it crashes after that, you can reload the project and avoid having to take the measurements again.)
It's also worth noting that, if you edit the Target Curves, you can save them separately. (So you can reload them later... even if you re-do the measurements, or change your speaker setup, because something else changes later).

Lets say you take 1 or 2 measurements than STOP....and SAVE so now you're good, right?
OK, can you reload and ADD MORE measurments to that saved file? Or must you 'start over'?

Since this thread is now Sticky'd it's not showing in Newest Threads. I'm hoping this post will bump the thread back into Newest.
edit: nope. There should be a way that this can show up automatically when new posts are made.

This thread is an odd duck. See that little anchor sign on it when you're looking at the forum subjects? To me, that says it's anchored. (Brilliant, I know. And yes, you're welcome.)
I've never heard of an anchored thread but before it was stickied, even when new posts came up in the thread, it never bumped back to the top as an active thread. It just kept aging and scrolling down the page, and was about to fall to the next page when I posted about it a few months ago. That's when it was made Sticky.
If the mods can figure out some way to remove the Anchor status, they could also remove the Sticky status and it would behave as expected.

So, because a thread isn't popular, it gets an "Anchor" attached to it so it can fall even faster?

Clearly it's popular. I'd dare say it's even essential. I don't know why someone would flag it with an anchor.
I'm a mod on some other forums and I've never heard of this type of flag.

Yes, it's clearly popular, but maybe it's one of those 'what have you done for me lately?' kinda things.
I was wondering why it's been getting farther behind lately, so thanks for pointing out the anchor.

The little Anchor icon means that the thread is set to "Falling". This means that it will not appear at the top of the list every time someone looks for "Latest Posts" and a few similar things. I don't know which of our mods set that - or why ... Someone may have figured that people interested in Dirac check it... and it wouldn't interest anyone else... (It may have even set itself automagically for some reason.)
In any case I'm going to switch it off. (But, if whoever set it feels strongly about it, and sets it back on, I'm not going to override their decision again.)

It’s possible that while I was cleaning up, I inadvertently hit the Anchor button (though I don’t remember seeing it). In any case I will fall on my sword and admit it was possibly me who caused the problem, and then complained about it. 😳

Thanks for clearing this up, I now see where that setting is “enabled”, though I’ve never intentionally enabled it, I’ll now know if I accidentally do it in the future.

Hello, I was to recalibrate Dirac on xmc-2 and faced some problem with Dirac not recognizing microphone on my MacBook m1. It sees xmc-2 but says "no recording device". I'm on Dirac Version 3.3.0 (874). I had it calibrated on older MacBook and also previous Dirac version. it looks under system settings on Mac I can see 'USB PnP sound device' so the mic seems to be seen by the system. I could use some help Thanks in advance. Happy Easter.
