Hello, I’m in a market for some good atmos speakers to go with my RMC. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am currently looking at the Klipsch CDT-5800-C and Klipsch ME-800-C speaker enclosures. Does anyone have any experience with these?

I just bought four RSL C34E In-Ceiling Speakers for my upgrade to 7.2.4 when my RMC-1L finally arrives. Not too expensive but, well suited for the height channels.
Looking at the Dolby Atmos 7.2.4 and 7.2.6 speaker layout, the only difference between the two is the two additional height speakerS in line with the listening seating. That makes expanding from 7.2.4 to 7.2.6 a fairly easy upgrade that doesn’t seem to impact the other speaker positions.
Hardest part might be finding two more XPA1L’s for the 5th and 6th ceiling speakers

I bought Definitive Technology Uesa/Di 5.5R Round in-Ceiling Speakers. The tweeters are on a pivot so I can adjust the angle. The grills are magnetic and paintable.
So far they sound excellent!
I know they will sound better when the DIRAC update finally arrives!

I'm using four of the Martin Logan Electromotion IC's. Complete overkill for Atmos and my system but I wanted to ensure timbre matching with the rest of my speakers so I bit the bullet. Since I look at speakers being the weakest link I just didn't want to skimp. Certainly aren't "necessary" but I have to say they do sound good.

I have four Definitive Technology DI 8R. I have them set at the recommended crossover at 40hz. They sound amazing with XMC-2 paired with ICEPower amps.
The deftech has a patent that minimizes distortion coming from the ceiling and it looks smaller that it really is. Also, the tweeter pivot in addition to build in EQ.

Does anyone have any experience with these? Your question should be: What are some good Atmos (Delete as applicable Ceiling / High wall / Dolby Enabled) speakers to go with my current setup (amend as necessary X.1 using Y fronts, Z centre, w surrounds) The speakers should ideally be a timbral match to your mains - the same manufacturer and same tweeter at least, I'd suggest. You have Klipsch already so maybe the ones you suggested or check on the Klipsch forum rather than the Processor forum Ceiling speakers are best, and I am not sure how Heights vs Dolby Enabled compare in the rankings - others may be able to comment. The other question is whether you want to X.1.2 or X.1.4 (or even X.1.6!) I went with two ceiling speakers as the bed channels for Atmos specification for home theatre are 7.1.2, but there are a LOT of proponents that recommend X.1.4 (Including Dolby themselves) Basically, my sofa is close to the back wall so sheer room size meant 4 ceiling speakers would not be optimal. Today I did all the installation for my soon to be delivered Monitor Audio ceiling speakers ( www.monitoraudio.com/en/product-ranges/controlled-performance/cp-ct380/ ) to go with my Gold GS surrounds. Now all I need is the speakers themselves - the best price was £100 cheaper for the pair ( £500 vs £600) so it is going to be another 5 days delivery - meanwhile I have two perfectly positioned, perfectly constructed (I'm happy to say) 11" holes in my ceiling!

And then there's this guy... (ME) I just went with four of the 8" Micca M-8C's for $40 a pop. Cost me as much (if not less) than one of most of the speakers above. If they're terrible, not too much of a sting but it gets me up and running w/ 5.2.4 for the budget home theatre in the living room.
I do agree w/ Markc and Zombie. Best case scenario, you timbre match everything.
Emotiva, still waiting on an in-ceiling speaker! (Take my money!)

For what they are, and what I'm using them for, they punch WAY above what the cost per speaker would imply. Until Emotiva comes out with a genuine "in ceiling" solution to match the rest of the Airmotiv line, I'm perfectly happy with these little gems. Once they do, if the price isn't reasonable enough to provoke me to make a change, I'd still be just as happy leaving the Micca's exactly where they are...

I installed four of these for my 7.2.4 as well. I use my RMC-1 in All Stereo quite often and the DI8R is a full range speaker, so I have my heights set to large. I got lucky when I was shopping because I purchased them on sale for $168 each when they listed for $329, now they have jacked the list price to $399. www.abt.com/product/47459/Definitive-Technology-White-8-Ceiling-Speaker-Each-DI8R.htmlFrequency Response 26Hz - 30kHz Impedance 4 - 8 Ohms Max Power Handling 225W Sensitivity 90dB Speaker Design 2-Way Speaker Type In-Ceiling Tweeter Size (inches) 1 Woofer Size (inches) 8 Height (inches) 9.75 Width (inches) 9.75 Depth (inches) 3.88 5 year warranty

I went with 4 Airmotiv A1s and mounted them to my ceiling. Where there's a will, there's a way. I tried going that route with the idea of recessing two pairs of E1s into the ceiling. I even devised a bracket that would allow me to angle them. But then the wife got ahold of the concept and immediately shot that idea right down the tubes. She's onboard with "most" of what I do in our media room, but that wasn't one of them... What I've got now will do just fine and musters the WAF...

WTF is it with peoples wives and audio gear? It's so prevalent that the hobby has a term for it... WAF. My spouse doesn't give a sweet F as long as I am happy, and for that I am thankful.

Bingo! This should be true for any speaker system, other than sub(s), no matter how many speakers. The timbre/voice/power matching are essential to the best sound. The improvement with careful listening is clearly obvious. My comment about subs is because some brands make excellent speakers but only mediocre subs especially in the lower end.

Well... it’s her house too and it works both ways... if my wife prefers flush mounted white speakers that blend in nicely with the ceiling as opposed to big gaudy black boxes hanging out of it, I’m okay with that. Sometimes you have to give a little to gain a lot. It’s called “compromise”....

I got them.

Thanks for the suggestion to match mains with the same timbre. I called Klipsch today to ask what a good match would be with the RF-82 mains and RB-81 surrounds and they said the CDT-5800 would be a good match. They also recommend the pro series in ceiling speakers since the were equally priced and had more bottom end and full ranged speaker because they were rigid and did not pivot. I don’t think I need a full range bottom end speaker for atmos in ceiling speaker but I looked into it. Now I need to figure if I should go 4 or 6. From reading other posts, it looks like there is not much benefit for going 6. Any comments?
