My friends, I’ve made the wrong diagnosis and it’s not my first and I’m sure not the last. I thought my RRS (right rear surround) had crapped out an figured it was no big deal. After sitting down to watch a movie on the Mrs system I discovered that it was the RS (right surround) speaker. For movies this isn’t good as y’all know! Stereo, you’d never know.
End of the world? 😱 Hardly! But still, not pleasing to anybody thats into our hobby as deep as we are. I do have my trusty Yamaha RX A3020 and it will pass 4K video. Its been in this room before. Should I slap it in there and call it a day? I can use the UMC-200 at the restaurant for stereo sound as thats where the Yamaha is now. Here’s the problem, I’ve been spoiled by the superior sound of the Emotiva offerings! I already have rhe RMC-1 and that hurt my purse biggly! Was it worth the expenditure? SQ wise, damn right it was but was it worth it without the other promised add Ons? Yet to be seen. Maybe XMC-1 if it passed 4K. So, it’s keep what I have, swap out the Yamaha or find a deal on an XMC-2. Not sure which way to go, the Mrs has asked about that channel being out and wants it fixed. I’m of the understanding that Emotiva no longer works on these and the it may be a symptom of things to come, IE; more channels going out.
I leave it to y’all, what recommendations do you have. In the words of Fraier Crane, “ I’m listening “ LOL

So, I haven’t had much time to diagnose my Mrs system. My XPA-5 G2 is going into protection mode and Lonnie doesn’t think that its the UMC200 causing the problem. One channel has a slight buzz in it and it doesn’t seem to move when tested. I’m open to any suggestions, besides shipping it back for repair. This is when I don’t like the tonnage of the great big amps! OH, but I do love the big heavy amps!

Of course you have disconnected everything else leaving only the power cord and it still trips into protection mode?
Cheers Gary

Have you checked for a bare wire short and tested the surround speakers (swapping with something etc?) I’m a bit confused with some of these potential overlapping issues. It can be a pain to figure. I had a buzz coming from someplace last year. Turned out to be an internal problem with my rear left surround speaker. All good now. Bill
