Would these need something behind them to create an enclosure of sorts, or should they just vent into the attic? Asking from a SQ perspective. Second question.. If you had to pick between using A1s mounted to the ceiling or these, which do you think would sound better? In other words, would you bother buying these if you already owned A1s for this purpose? Edit: I'm also curious on these being 8 ohms. Looks like everything else is 4 ohm. Was there a design decision that made these need to be different? Again, just curious.

Any chance there is an 8" version coming in the future? Seems like a very popular size...

I know some folks who put ceiling speakers in used an enclosure, but I thought it was more for protection from dust/insulation/etc. getting on the back side than sound. That said - I do like the mounting system and ability to angle the tweeter toward the listening position. Very cool design and execution. Mark

Finally, I wonder how these will match with my JBLs?

Uhm... wonder if some ingenious DIYer will try to put a pair in an enclosure, to create a KEF LS50-like pair of main speakers!

Interesting product. Could you provide dispersion measurements as well as THD? How loud do they go before audible distortion sets in. Thank you!

Mark I believe adding a backer to in-ceiling speakers usually (but not always) results in better bass response.

Finally, I wonder how these will match with my JBLs? And I'm wondering how they would match with Klipsch Heritage speakers. Probably not so well....

These are infinite baffle speakers, not designed to be enclosed

These are infinite baffle speakers, not designed to be enclosed Infinite baffle is not related to enclosures I thought, but having a driver level with the mounting surface (baffle) so that there are no rear wall reflections of sound reaching the listener after the direct radiating audio, causing cancellations and reinforcements.

I just realized that these are rated up to 40 kHz. But that's at +/- 5dB, which is kind of an odd way to put it. I believe all the other Airmotiv speakers are rated to 28 kHz +/- 3db. Is there something different about the tweeter in these speakers, or is this just a slightly different marketing decision? Assuming these are using the same tweeter, is it safe to say they measure the same up to 20 kHz, which is what really matters?

I asked this on Facebook but never got an answer. I wonder if there are any plans for a matching in-wall pair. These are too deep for standard framing. I’ve got 4 E1s, two ceiling and two wall I wouldn’t mind replacing.

Ann I also need a wall/surface mount, specially non-angled, so the A1 won’t work. Have you looked into building an enclosure for the Vaulta at all?
