I am not looking for advice on buying some other speaker... I already have these and will be setting up two tops for Atmos, to get 7.x.2. My choices are: The Polk Audio RC-60i: The Polk Audio RC-85i: The 85i are HUGE... but should sound better, and be able to handle bass much better, but like I said, they are HUGE....

In my opinion you always use the best you have available unless there is some reason you can't... so what is your question exactly?

I don’t know why, but round speakers look better in the ceiling than rectangular ones.

Yeah... so for all the bragging I have been doing about not having to worry about WAF (or in my case HAF) I am meeting with some resistance, albeit mild. So If the Emotiva forums say "Go big or go 7.1" then I have some leverage.

Rectangles are easier to cut into dry wall. Or so I say.

Drywall.... I wish! 110 year old house... plaster and lathe! Then even more important to keep it to straight lines.

Drywall.... I wish! 110 year old house... plaster and lathe! Then even more important to keep it to straight lines. I also have plaster and lathe in my 1860's home, but I found that the lathe is not vertical or horizontal but roughly aligned. Straight lines across this can be tricky. Cutting 273mm / 11" circular holes in my ceiling was easy, and MUCH easier than straight lines. There is also zero possibility of getting an edge misalligned. Handheld plaster saws are not good on Plaster/lathe as the wood lathe strips pull out of the plaster with the sawing motion. I chain-drilled around the template line I'd drawn on the ceiling using a domestic drill and a 6mm drill bit. The ceiling was around 16mm thick. To the full circle of close linked holes, a little oblique drilling and side cutting around the hole and all perfect edges resulted. My key success was that I duct-taped the nozzle of the vacuum cleaner on to the drill, (avoiding the air vents) and this took away about 80% of the dust. 15 minutes and all done. My arms ached after each hole, but 5 minutes rest and on to the second. The ceiling speakers fitting perfectly into the hole when I first put them up was sweet! Regarding the speakers, there is not much between them in the specs. The rectangles give you 30-20k Hz, vs 40-20kHz for the round ones, and although this isn't stated if at -6db roll-off of not, neither give no cause for concern. Power handing 20-100W for both. I don't think you will notice any difference with bass of sound power between the two. The 85i have a tweeter that is more like your mains, compared with the 19mm tweeter of the round 65i
