OK .... I've had a PT-100 for a couple of years now and really like it. But how much better is the XPS-1 over the phono stage in the PT-100? I'm using a MM cartridge.

It's probably about the same.

It's probably about the same. Thanks. But I am hoping that someone who has experience with both might chime in.

I use both. I like the XPS-1 better, I feel a bit more clarity of the sound, cleaner in a way. I've used both with Fluance RT-85 and project and technics TT's. The phono in the PT-100 is good, but, to my ears, a bit inferior to the stand alone XPS-1.
Cheers.

I have the XPS and I’m getting good results, I think. I have a Pro-ject Genie 1.3 and just got a new cartridge, a Nagoaka MP110. I still need to listen to it some more, but I’m wondering what a next step could be in terms of the phono preamp. Any suggestions that are a meaningful improvement around $500? I do have my eyes on the Schiit turntable, maybe that would be better $ spent?
Going into XMC-1, PA-1s, and Sonus Faber Toy Towers.
