So I bought a new Yamaha A-S801 from Crutchfield last week. Just exploring here. I have the A-2100 and the A-S1100, and like them both. was intrigued by the usb of the 801.
It replaced my perfectly functioning Emotiva TA-100 which was moved to another duty.
Using the EMOTIVA T-zero's, or my Klipsch Heresy-III, I noticed a static sound in both speakers that lasts about 3-5 seconds, anytime I turn the Yamaha on. then normal function, clean neutral enjoyable non static sound after that.
It only occurs when I turn the amplifier on +++
Can somebody explain please, and advise if I need to be concerned ?. This never happened with the TA-100, using the same input.
I am using BJ cables and the USB input from my PC.

Strange sounds can be emitted at turn-on and turn-off as bias circuits are energized and such. I would have expected the Yammie to mute the outputs until it was fully on, however. I'd ping Crutchfield and Yamaha. It's possible the amp has a defect...

I'd add to don that I'd dump the new amp. It should NOT be doing that. I rather doubt the transients are large enough to damage even the most sensitive tweeter, but it is annoying and something that should not be part of modern gear.
Is the amp defective as don suggests? Please post back when you get some more information.
